What time/how long before fireworks do I need to get there?
The party always starts one hour before Wishes. Tables are pre-assigned, so you won't get a better table by showing up early, and they replenish the dessert buffets throughout the party, so you don't need to be early for that, either. There can sometimes be a small line for check-in, but usually not more than a 5 minute wait. We've gone several times, and it just depends on our preference that day. If we're not doing anything else, we'll head over a few minutes before the party starts, but if we're on a ride, we've gone over a few minutes after it started. What time/how long before fireworks do I need to get there?
1. We showed up about 10 minutes before the fireworks started.
2. The desserts stay out throughout the fireworks and for a while after the fireworks as well.
It was a great experience. I LOVED having the assigned seats so that we didn't have to worry about our arrival time!
We have only been to this event once (A LOVED IT!). We showed up about 10 minutes before the fireworks started. The nice thing about showing up that late was that there was no line at check-in. We walked right up, got our bracelets, and went right in. Also, there were no lines at the dessert buffets. Just a few folks here and there since most had already either finished with their desserts or were in the process of eating them. So we pretty much had the dessert buffet to ourselves.

CAUTION:
1. I would NOT recommend that as a regular practice, because...
2. THAT is far from what usually happens.
The more regular practice is for the CMs to CLEAR the dessert bar AND the guest tables during the fireworks.
We are heading back to WDW in April and have scheduled this event for several of the nights since we enjoyed it so much last time.
However, if they are going to start shoo-ing us out right after the fireworks, I may have to better plan our arrival time. Thank for the heads-up, Robo.
There's no "shooing out" of guests.
Just no dessert serving tables left after the fireworks.
And, no desserts left on unattended tables (as those guest are standing along the railing for the show.)

Our experience also. We have done this twice, plenty of desserts throughout the time before and during the Celebrate The Magic and fireworks. You definitely will not be wanting for plenty of eats.We have only been to this event once (A LOVED IT!). We showed up about 10 minutes before the fireworks started. However, there are more than enough wonderful treats to fill you up during it. We stayed 45 minutes after to play some euchre and the CMs who were clearing up thought it was so cool! We told them to let us know when we had to leave, and they did so politely. On another tract: I wonder how the new construction through the strip in front of the party's location will impact future parties? We were there in December and the entire Terrace area was so empty--seems like a waste of prime real estate in MK.We've done this four times, and Robo's advice has been true in our experiences. I haven't ever seen plates to go, either. They do slow down replenishing the buffet toward the end of the night -- I don't remember them putting much new out once Celebrate the Magic started -- and they typically start clearing the tables while people are standing at the railings to watch the fireworks. They don't rush you out, but the party is over for all intents and purposes once Wishes is done.I've heard from more than a few reviews that they have the stuff out until the end and some times refill it and ppl can take plates to go.

If you have a table by the railing how do you stop people from standing in front of you at the railing?
