Here is my review on the desert party. My goal is to give an honest review so others will not book this under false pretenses like we did. We were 2 adults and kids. Paid 70 some $$s.

Let me first explain why we booked this: we had looked for an option for my mom to experience Wishes were she would have a reserved seat and wouldnt have to deal with crowds and stand for long periods. So i had heard about this and thought, sounds good, though overpriced IMO, we get dessert and seating ( in my head the value was in seating, not food).

Check-in/food: wishes was a 9pm, reservation at 8pm. Date was 03sept. Had we known about crowd levels and that the dessert party was lowly booked, we would have gone in at 830 and rode buzz light year a few more times. Each res. Gets their own table pre-reserved, so when you arrive is not important. If you want the chocolate covered strawberries, get their early as once gone, it seems these were not re-filled as the mass produced mini cupcakes.

That night only the terrace part was booked, the inside was empty. Only one buffet, but never crowded. Food was ok, strawberries the best. Creme brulee was good. Rest were your typical buffett desserts you get at any disney character buffett. Honestly, besides the strawberries, crystal palace etc has better dessert. But to each their own. My kids ate 3 cookies each for about 12 /15 bucks per kid!!

So that is the food, IMO nothing to wow at and that alone not at all worth the $$$

Fireworks: i noted above why we booked this. When we were seated ( great table right by railing). The CM said " just so you know about 20 min. Before fireworks people will be coming to stand here to view the fireworks, oh and moving chairs up to railing is not allowed" WHAT!!!! And this is excately what happened. Even though every table had a great view, back tables got up( yes view was a bit better standing, you could see top of fire works) and stood right in front of our table, this blocking our view. Some people at the front tables moved thir chairs up ( mind you mothers with little kids, older people who needed to sit) CMs were jumpimg on them saying not allowed as this event is standing room only. We were forced to leave our table to see anything.

This is where i then complained to a mgr and explained how our views were blocked and we booked this mainly forseating. She then explained that this dinner party is basically you come early to sit and eat and everyone is to leave tables and stand by railing for fireworks. I was soo pissed as dining reservations recommemded this due to my mom. Another mother had also compalined, she was like what was the point of spending all this money to stand cause the food itself was not worth the $

The idiotic thing was due to everyone having a terrace table, no one needed to stand. 20 minutes before show it was a mad fight for first row railing. In front of our table. Honestly we would have had more room out in the crowds in the square with better castle view.

To sum it up:: for us we wasted 70 bucks on dessert not worth that money, for reserved wishes spot we didnt get. Maybe on a date like 4th july or NYE this might give you more space, but a few days later we got a free seat on a bridge with a better view and could have gotten a dole whip and had been happier for less than 10.00.

One more thing, this whole event is basically outdoors, it's covered, but no A/C. Might be an issue for some assuming this offers a nice cool break on a muggy night. Our night was thankfully ok, not too bad.

Thanks for your honest review. I have never been tempted to try it as back in May 08 during my very first trip to WDW, we sat there for free before the dessert party was invented and I was able to experience Wishes with a great view.

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy yourself. I'm not sure if that's the norm as I read the same thing before booking in April. But when we went, we had a front table and no one stood at the railing. A few people got up who were sitting in the back tables, but they actually stood off to the side as to not block anyone.

It's true what everyone else on the forum usually says - its best to do research before booking anything to avoid disappointment!

I agree with doing your research. Could've saved you some money. Personally, we loved it. We had a table right in the front and no one stood in front of us blocking our view. In fact, we moved our chairs pretty close to the railing (yes, someone could've fit in there but luckily no one did). My MIL & DH really appreciated having a seat to watch Wishes instead of the hard cement. Nothing ever ran out at the buffet either.

It's not for everyone I guess.

We didn't like that they didn't dim the lights when the fireworks started. I know people were still eating, etc. but who likes to watch the fireworks when it's all lit up where you're standing/sitting. We won't do it again either.

I knew that people were going to be standing at the railing, but overall the desserts were just eh. We felt it was a one and done experience.

We were told the same thing, that everyone would go up to the railing and stand to watch, that you basically sit at the table just to eat. We went up about 20-25 minutes beforehand when other people started stand at the railing. I don't actually recall many, if any people, still sitting and watching at the seats, everyone was standing at the railing. While I agree about the desserts, it was still totally worth it to me because the view was amazing. I can't imagine standing on Main Street again to watch the fireworks after the view we had at the dessert party.

I didn't have a great experience either. We had a front row table but figured out that we would have to stand to see anything. We were blown away when a family from one of the back tables came and sat at our table where we will still eating! I thought it was incredibly rude for someone to sit at a table they weren't assigned to and breathe all over our food. Just too much money for not great viewing and subpar desserts.

Wow that reminds me of the VMCP. People pay so much extra they think they are more important. This would be a problem for me.

Sorry you feel negative about it.

Unfortunately you didn't check on here beforehand or else you would have known that people can stand along the railing. Still beats having to fight for a spot in the crowded Main Street and standing 30 minutes before to hold your spot.

you can write to guest relations about it we did as it is nothing but same desserts and like you said not worth the money and sure is not good viewing area if anyone else around you cannot sit.
