Tomorrowland speedway

Interesting topic...We have never even ridden this ride. My kids have done go karts at other places and really have no desire to stand in line for something the can do close to home.

From a child's perspective, this is perhaps one of the most exciting rides found within MK. For those kids who aren't tall enough to ride rollercoasters, or are simply afraid to ride them, this is one of those "go-to" rides.

As a youngster, this was my absolute favorite ride at WDW. The thought of being able to pilot my very own car as a little kid - where else can you do that as a child but WDW?

As an adult, I understand the underwhelming feeling that this ride presents, but it is still a must-do for me, as it makes me reminisce about my carefree, childhood adventures to WDW, which are some of the best memories I have.

Well stated brother!::yes::

I believe that most of the folks crying to "rip out" this ride would change their opinion if they were to experience Tomorrowland Speedway with young children as you have. Again, at 30 years old, this ride doesn't speak to me as it once did. But I still remember being "that child" who counted down the days to our flight to MCO, with one of the primary drivers for my excitement being a chance to ride Tomorrowland Speedway. Now when I ride this attraction, the excitement level is certainly not there, but the memories still are. I feel like a kid all over again with every twist and turn of the track.

Just because you don't have kids, or because your kids are older and no longer ride this attraction, doesn't mean that others don't appreciate it for what it is.

I agree. When I was a kid, I loved this ride. The only thing offensive is the smell. I thought that the odor came from gas engines. Now that I know it doesn't the fact that the cars are nonelectric don't bother me

After so many years I was wondering what's the purpose of this attraction? It doesn't fit with the tomorrow land theme and that nasty smell!? What do you guys think should replace it or do you love it ? I would really appreciate everyone's thoughts on this subject? Thanks 8) and have a magical day!

It should be replaced with electric or hydrogen fueled vehicles and the track updated to reflect a futuristic appearance. No smell, cool surrounding and the newest technology. Now how can that be a bad idea?:thumbsup2

I love the idea of making them into electric cars. It would fit in so well with the Tomorrowland theme.

If not, making it a Cars-themed ride would be fun. Could make all the cars and some of the racers from the Cars and Cars 2!

The 2 blind people in our group got a kick out of being able to drive the cars. Granted, they looked like they were drunk, but hey, a little whiplash never hurt anybody. :rotfl:

Oh, and Rusty the Service WonderDog? He *LOVED* it!! Poor guy had to sit with his butt on the floor and front paws on the seat, so he was looking backwards, but he was thrilled to have his harness off and ride in his own convertible :moped:
