Tomorrowland Skyway building to be demolished?

Why didn't they keep the Skyway lift?
This was always a postcard picture of Disney and a wonderful little relaxing ride. Do they plan to reinvent the Skyway later on?

Many reasons...liability issues, maintenance, etc.

I really doubt it is coming back in any form, ever.

...........people throwing stuff from the cars, could not run, and had to be hastily unloaded with the arrival of lightning storms, which are plentiful down here during the summer, amazingly slow loading.

Where exactly in Tomorrowland is the skyway building located? We've spent many hours in Tomorrowland and never noticed it before. I even asked my daughter (who loves WDW as much as I do) if she's ever noticed that building and her answer was no. We notice the one in Fantasyland every time we walk past it but the one in Tomorrowland eludes us! :confused3

It's the building with the hard canopy on top to the right of the Space Mountain entrance...you can see a pic on my web page here. It is easy to miss because since the skyway closed, it isn't much of anything and not terribly noticeable if you aren't looking for it.

I think they should suspend flying saucers from those cables and have it as an enclosed, sensory outer space sound and visual experience from Tomorrowland tower and back again.

I guess the good suffer for the bad and ignorant.
Still be a Mechnical Designer myself they could have redisn these skyway cars to be enclosed with a 360 degree view and make them lightning resistant to a certain point, because nothing is lightning resistant to tell the truth.
I can understand the old version being scrapped but Walt was always about re-imagineering and re disgning things for the futre and the modern times.
This should be done for all attractions like they did with the HAUNTED MANSION, they re-imagineered it made it more modern and updated, which i like but they could really do alot more and if they didn't want to take awy from the originally of it they could add on the the ride at the end.

DUN DUN DUN! just took this today

...and Bradstreet Bradstreet Bradstreet

Mitros, sorry no one got the humor in the "Bradstreet," apparently not many economists on this thread:lmao:

But my reason for reviving it is Mouseplanet is reporting that Disney filed papers with Orange County for "Tomorrowland Skyway Terminal - Demolition of structure and renovation of exterior and restrooms."

Yea, if it ain't Disney..............................:goodvibes

They began demolishing it a while back. They ARE tearing it down completely. :)

Thanks for the memories of the Skyway.

Funny thing is, as often as I rode it in the past, I don't remember seeing the Tomorrowland station recently! At one point I even tried to remember where it was! I totally forgot that it was above the restrooms (which I have used many times in the past few years!)

Any thoughts as to what the space will be used for?

keeping the bathrooms, adding more space for space mountain's queue area...so the line wont be a mile and a half out of the attraction...and possible another queue entrance.
