I am thinking of booking the dessert party for one of the nights we will be in Magic Kingdom. My questions are:
1. We will be eating at CRT at 6:40 one of the evenings. Would it be good to go from there to the party or would we be too full to enjoy it? The other non MNSSHP night that we will be in the park we don't have any ADRs all day and plan to eat CS meals.
2. How do you get reservations? Do they release an entire month at a time or is it day by day? We are looking for September.
3. I read on someone's post that you couldn't see the electrical parade very well from the restaurant and then I read from someone else that the view was great. Which is true?
4. I also read that the sound quality of the music is horrible. Is this true?
5. What happens in the event that the fireworks are cancelled?
6. Is the cancellation policy the same as other ADRs?
7. Would you try to get reservations for both evenings in case of rain the first evening?
8. Is it really worth the extra money? Keep in mind it's our first time to see Wishes and we have twin six year olds. It looks great to me but I love dessert. My husband could take them or leave them.

Thanks

One other thing...I am still trying to get BOG reservations for the night we will be in the park that we don't have ADRs. Would it be more filling than CRT as far as wanting lots of yummy desserts later?

Thanks again

I learned to book a TS late lunch on the evening we do the Dessert party. It is alot of food.
The dates for this event are entirely separate from your 180 date. There are threads out there regarding past year opening dates for reservations. I call daily once the time rolls around. If you book the Party during the MVMCP, you will pay for the party admission plus the Dessert fee. It's tricky, but I try to get a non-MVMCP night since we aren't interested in paying for both.

I do not recommend a late dinner before the party and further recommend skipping dessert. BOG would be better than CRT because at CRT you are paying for the dessert whether you eat it or not. At BOG the desserts are also pretty small.

The best thing to do would probably be have a late TS lunch or early dinner and save as much room as possible for the desserts.

You can see the parade, but you can only see the high floats from a distance. You will not be able to see anything occurring at street level (walking characters, etc)

I wouldn't try and get reservations for both evenings if the evenings are consecutive, because you might end up being unable to cancel one on time - and if you don't cancel on time you don't get a refund.

I have just made ADR for August 21st and I am not sure on how seating works.
:confused3
Is your table assigned by date of booking OR by when you get into line? Just want to plan ahead ! Thanks for any information out there ! :yay:

By the date you book. When you arrive, your table will already be reserved for you, with a name card on it.

I would not recommend a big dinner before.

The whole month of September will be released at one time *most of the time - they have split months in rare situations*.

3. I read on someone's post that you couldn't see the electrical parade very well from the restaurant and then I read from someone else that the view was great. Which is true?

You can only see the top of the floats, I would definitely say NO to this question. You can not see the parade.

4. I also read that the sound quality of the music is horrible. Is this true?

I have never noticed a difference in the music quality. I am always so excited that would not matter unless it was horrible. I am going to say it is the same.

5. What happens in the event that the fireworks are cancelled?

The party still goes on. You sit and eat desserts. See cancellation below.

6. Is the cancellation policy the same as other ADRs?

Cancellation for full refund is over 24 hours. So if your reservation is Monday at 9pm you need to cancel before 9pm on Sunday for a refund. Remember the dining lines hours when contemplating cancelling as the online system can not be trusted.

7. Would you try to get reservations for both evenings in case of rain the first evening?

No pick a date and go with it. You are charged in full when you book your date.

8. Is it really worth the extra money? Keep in mind it's our first time to see Wishes and we have twin six year olds. It looks great to me but I love dessert. My husband could take them or leave them.

I think it is a personal choice. With twin boys I would do it to avoid the huge crowds. It is hard to enjoy when you are worrying about safety. My family wants to go every visit now.

Thanks

Hope this helps a little.

We love the dessert party and have been the past 2 years. As others have said, DO NOT have a sit down dinner the same night - you will be too full to enjoy everything. We learned that the hard way - a late lunch or splitting a QS dinner is what I would recommend.

Reservations are wacky - they usually open about 2 months ahead of time and then the entire month opens at once. Look up the "Wishes Dessert Party ADR Watch Thread" on the boards and subscribe to it. There are tons of people on there waiting for reservations to open and as soon as they do, someone will post that they're open. I've heard the sooner you make your reservation, the closer to the front your table is - although most people stand at the rail once the fireworks start so even with a front row table, you may want to stand.

I've never noticed bad sound quality, but like the other poster said, I'm usually too entranced by the fireworks to pay attention. The neat thing about the location as that Tinkerbell flies right over your head to start the show!

We definitely think it's worth it - just being up and away from the masses and not having to stake out your spot hours ahead of time is great and the desserts make it even better! Some folks don't like it because as I mentioned, people stand in front once the fireworks start and others don't like the view - you're slightly right of the castle instead of straight on, so it's definitely a personal preference thing, but if you can afford it, I think it's a great thing to try at least once!

What is the price for this? (I'm a noob)

It's about $24 for adults and about $14 for children. The price changes slightly based on the time of year, holidays, etc.

Thanks I will try to do this for jan 1 or 2 hopefully, sounds like fun

Hope you don't mind me asking another question about the dessert part on your post.

After the fireworks are done can you just stay there for a bit and wait for the crowds to leave?

We always stay a little bit afterwards. They usually have a few desserts left and some of the drinks out while the CMs are cleaning up. We make sure not to get in the way of the cleaning and they have never minded us staying and having a nice relaxing lemonade and or coffee. We usually stay around 20 minutes or so just enough time to let the major crowds go by. Hope this helps with the previous question asked.
