I actually tried to stop by there at lunch last week. Keep in mind, I know Pointe Orlando well, been there dozens of times. I walked around for 10 minutes and could not find the Tommy Bahamas! No signage, no landmarks, nothing--the construction everywhere did not help. Ended up back at Adobe Gillas, seemingly the only place left open.

In the end, it seems I might not have missed much. Scott Joseph can be a bit snobbish, but this is apparently a snobbish kind of place. I tend to trust his opinion on this one.

Thanks. We're probably just going to head somewhere else and try it out for lunch one day. pirate:

we love Tommy bahamas in Naples. Not cheap but great food. It was the only Resturant TB's had, They wanted a store in DT Naples & the only spot only was zoned for a resturant.

I also love the one in Naples. It's always packed too.

It's right next to the Capital Grille. Big themed building. It wasn't bad. Somewhat expensive though. I loved their key lime pie. As for being snobbish, I'd say the restaurant's atmosphere is in the gray area between a casual place and a truly upscale or "snobbish" place. But like I said, the prices are decidedly uncasual.

Just to add:
Maggiano's just opened at Pointe Orlando a week or so ago.

All the new restaurants at Pointe Orlando (Maggiano's, Capital Grille, Tommy Bahamas, and one other I can't recall the name) are on the I-drive side and highly visible from I-drive.

What other restaurants are that "type" of place - you know, islandy, tropical drinks and food, make-you-feel-like-you're-on-vacation places? :beach: Would Bahama Breeze be that type for less money? Anyplace else?

Seen Capital Grille and Maggianos, can't believe I am missing TBs. :confused3 Will try to find it again next week, after the convention leaves town.

I think Bahama Breeze is even more tropical and vacationy than Tommy Bahama. Certainly less expensive and more fun.

Margaritaville at CityWalk :thumbsup2 . I love the whole "island living" thing and I can't wait to try Tommy's (well, it is 5 o'clock somewhere! :teeth:). Scott's review isn't horrendous by his standards and I do usually find myself agreeing with him, albeit on a "dumbed-down" basis. I'd like to think that many of the problems could be attributed to teething problems.

I can sort of understand how you might miss it if you came in via the Universal Blvd entrance, Jason, especially if there's still a lot of building work going on. It's alongside Capital Grille (imagine you're standing at the entrance to what was FAO Schwartz, facing towards The Pointe - it would then be directly to your front left). It's more or less in the space which used to be occupied by Monty's Conch Harbor.

This photo, taken in October shortly before its opening, might help you - at least you'll know what you're looking for!

Thanks for the input. Will try it out someday. We ended up at Roy's instead of trying something new and had a great early meal. Every place can have a bad night but after eating at a number of his locations, luckily we have yet to have subpar service or food there.
