Tom Sawyer

I'm trying to figure out why somebody would waste their early morning MK time riding a raft to and from Tom Sawyer's Island. I understand you get a fastpass if you find a brush, but aren't you able to accomplish more in the early morning hours if you just line up for stuff?
Only thing I can think of is maybe they don't start sending rafts over there until 11:00 or something?
The first raft to TSI leaves at 10:00.I would not recommend the "paintbrush search" to first-time Guests, but with 112 days in Walt Disney World since 2003,it is a fun activity I can participate in without feeling like I am "missing" anything.:)

we went last April and searched everywhere for a paint brush- but never found one- and didn't see anyone else find any either- i cant remeber what time we went but I don't think it was the first thing we did- anyhow it was our very first time on the island and this was my DS's 11th visit to WDW but we just never knew to do this! We had fun on the island exploring but there is not much to do - although glad to say that we have done it!

If anyone has any pics please post as my DS would love to see them- we will do this again on our upcoming May trip so I hope that they are still hiding the paintbrushes. This is a great thread to alive and all posted on the status of the paintbrushes.

I think it depends if they have enough Cms so that they can hide them. I went over 2x in Sept. Both days they said they did not hide them that day. Then on our last day there a woman in front of us on Splash said they did hide them that day.

I think the paintbrushes would be gone by the afternoon. I really always tell people to try everything at least once, but honestly, I think tom sawyer island was a waste of time. There were so many pitch black dark caves that my DD was terrified of and to be honest, so was I. You can't see where your going and you can easily loose your child in a cave or anywhere on TS island. I didn't like the rickety bridges either and I think thats the only way to get around.

To me, I'd rather be getting on line for attractions and doing something better with my time than spending time going to TS island and hoping to possibly find the paintbrushes.

They were hiding them in Jan 09 when we went. I was half looking for one, but we ran into a family who heard us talking about it and asked what it was. They ended up finding a paintbrush and I came up empty handed lol
