For Tom Sawyer Island, do you get your own raft to control or are you taken across by a CM? I was thinking that TSI might add a little relaxation to an otherwise hectic theme park. Does anyone
else use it to unwind?

They have rafts that are operated by CMs to get you to and from Tom Sawyer's Island.

I don't personally visit, just because I'm usually in Orlando for such a short time, that there's other things to do. I've been once, and did find it relaxing and very enjoyable.

The line was pretty long though for the raft!

The trip over is on a big raft that is controled by a CM. It is very crowded as they try to get as many people as possible on each raft. It however only takes a few minutes once it starts over. the island is a nice escape from the crowds and we used to go over when DS was little as it was a controled place to run off some steam. We however are like S.S. It takes more time than we find worth it. Go at least once however and decide for yourself.

As a teenager growing up in Tampa my trips to Disney were quite often. I can remember going to TSI with a group of 5-6 Friends and waterguns in hand....we had a blast. We would stay for hours sometimes...Disney was a little cheaper back then! Essentially is was a great game of hide and seek ...plus you got a little wet int the process! Now as adult I can only imagine what people thought of us!

The watergun tag sounds exactly like something my friends and I would have done if we had lived closer to WDW. (Instead we settled for such antics in high-rise hotels and in our neighborhoods when the weather was warmer-how those hotel housekeeping employees and guests must have loved us, but we never got in trouble. The bigger the hotel the easier it was to hide. Yes-we were rotten teenagers! LOL!) I plan on visiting TSI on our next trip so my kids can run around, otherwise I think it is something I would skip. I should admit that on my first trip, I did enjoy sitting in a rocker watching the parade through the zoom lens on the video camera. But my kids would never go for seeing the parade from that far now!
