Tolls: Visitor Pass or Toll-By-Plate?

Would it be worth it to bring my EZ Pass transponder?

you EZ works on Florida toll roads ..... in a rental car it will 'over ride' local charge systems . . . (supposed to anyway)

If there anything I should waive from the rental car agency? Since I know I am avoiding tolls, should I select pay by plate?
If there is an option to decline the car rental companies toll program, select that if you plan on using either the Visitor Toll Pass or your own interoperable transponder. For most car rental companies, you will be automatically be enrolled in their toll program if you go through a toll plaza without paying by another method (cash, VTP or interoperable transponder).

Does Toll by Plate actually work? We use the express lanes all the time and have yet to get a bill. *shrugs*

I do not. Had one when I lived in NY and it was linked to that plate, but I surrendered those after moving 5+ yrs ago.

My own car and NC plates.
I suspect that the interoperability agreement between NC & FL doesn't include the ability to send a Toll-By-Plate invoice (or toll violation) to NC residents that don't have a NC Quick Pass account.

Guess one can't avoid asking the question of why you used the lanes that were designated for transponder/electronic toll use only when you don't have one

Though I suppose if NC isn't sharing the plate info it you're free to continue to use it as you wish

Of all the locations that do and don't share you'd think those with coordinating toll programs would be ones to share plate info. Curious how these things can work

I wasn't aware those lanes weren't pay by plate until someone mentioned that in this thread.

No need to be a rules lawyer, I was not deliberately gaming the system. Most modern infrastructures in major cities have pay by plate, I get bills from NC, Maryland, DC, and NY just fine.

Never said you should or shouldn't do it. Didn't accuse you of anything either. If you care to go back and check. I don't care what you do. Heck, I see plenty of people with 1 person in the car in the HOV lane. People are more than free to use those lanes however they wish
I thought the signage indicated how to use them and was just being noisy.
DH does the driving when we are there so I pay zero attention to such things
If they don't have them marked, that's on FL to do better to mark them. Too many driving from out of the area for them to expect folks to figure out such things on their own

They do have pay by plate on all other toll roads. For whatever reason have opted to not do it on their express lanes. I believe GA did the same on the new express lanes around ATL
