I can find lots of posts telling me that certain roads are toll roads -- but what are the tolls? Should I bring quarters, dimes, nickels or dollar coins?

I don't plan on getting on a toll road if I can help it, but with my sense of direction (nonexistent, if not worse) I know that I probably will sometime during my 24 hours of car rental. So... just in case... what kind of change should I have on hand?

Thanks!

It kind of depends on where you are coming from and going to. Are you talking about airport to WDW? Driving along the Florida Turnpike?

A couple of rolls of quarters is best. But a few singles wouldn't hurt to have on hand either. Most tolls are .75 to 1.50 but it all depends on what you're driving on.

If you're not from the area I would say go ahead and take the toll roads, Orlando's hard enough to get around without dealing with surface streets.

Last time we were there - South Expressway - MCO airport to just near Lake Buena Vista - was $1.25/toll x 2 tolls = $2.50 each way. They take any U.S. money - $1 bill plus $0.25 (quarter) per toll worked fine.

I lived in Orlando many years ago (sadly no longer), so I'm not sure how much they are now. But when I lived there, they ranged from 35 cents to a dollar depending on which road and how long you were on them. I will warn though, many of them are exact change only with no staff present. I ran into them a couple times without any cash on me so always have some spare change in the car!

i rented a car from Alamo at the car care center they have a sun pass toll paying device on the car so if you go down a toll road they charge $2.00 a day then the toll i went to Kennedy space center from wdw it was $6.00 in tolls and $2.00 to Alamo. they only charge the $2.00 if you drive down the toll road

I'm arriving on a Sunday and getting a car Monday afternoon to get groceries, go shopping, etc. I will have my own GPS, but I get confused incredibly easily so even if it is smart enough to keep off the toll roads, I probably won't be. I do see (now) on the Alamo website that they'll deal with the tolls if I don't, but I think a couple of rolls of quarters is not a big deal to get just for peace of mind. Thanks everyone!

If all you're doing is going from the airport to WDW, then two tolls of $1.25 each is all you need to worry about - each way - assuming you take the Route 417 road to WDW and get off at exit 6. The toll booths are manned so don't worry about exact change.
