This one is for not paying long distance fees. If you're using a phone plan where your long distance charges amount to something, then it's worth it to use the toll-free number! If you have one of those $.03 a minute plans, maybe it's less important... though I have actually spent 30 minutes on the phone with Disney before!
Wish we would have known this. Day before yesterday, we booked our first trip to Disney. We were on the phone for well over an hour! The CM was great, walked through everything. Our phone plan is great, but free would've been better.
I had the same thing, I even asked the CM if there was a 1-800 number and he said no, but then I tried using the one listed above and it worked. What BS...Why don't they just tell us the # if we ask. Frustrating!

From what I've heard, I believe that's because the toll free number is supposed to be for travel agents only. I've also heard that Disney has never "officially" had a toll free number. They did have another toll free number that was recently disconnected, but I think the same story applied to that number too.
