I've been calling the toll free number 1-877-939-3732 to make ADR reservations. However the tel suddenly became inactive this morning when I called. There's a message saying I have to call the 407-xxx-xxx number instead. Is there another toll free tel available?

I've just noticed this too!! Yuck!

1) The toll-free numbers are for travel agents.
2) But, someone always seems to leak them.
3) Once they get a lot of use, they get shut down.
4) Just too many folks trying to abuse the system.

Maybe you'll have more luck getting that message across than I ever do, RustyScupper.

I am honestly not trying to start a fight here, but how is using an 800 # abusing the system? Just about every major business has toll free numbers, including other hotels. With all of the business Disney does and for the additional money we spend to stay in a Disney hotel rather than Marriott, why shouldn't they have a toll free number for everyone? :confused3

They don't have a toll-free number for the general public. The numbers that are turning up here and elsewhere on the internet are ones that Disney provides for companies they have business relationships with, such as travel agencies, McDonalds, etc. These numbers are not ever seen in Disney advertising, on the web site, etc., as they would be if they were intended for public use. They're 'back office' lines.

So, when the numbers get leaked and the call volume goes up, Disney shuts the phone number down.

I agree with this. Actually, this is the first time I've ever heard that the numbers posted on here that are the 800#'s are for travel adgencies...I just never knew! And I'm surprised because usually when I book a vacation or hotel, I use a 1-800 number so I just assumed that Disney would have a 1-800 for the general public.

In addition, I do not have a long distance plan & between booking our Disney holiday, calling to make payments, do adrs, adjust & ask questions, not using a 1-800 number can add up! I am just very surprised that a big company like Disney would NOT have a 1-800 number for the general public.

Thank you. I too wonder why they don't have a toll free number, but that is the way it is. If you don't have long distance then book through the internet, a travel agent, or buy a phone card. It's not like a toll-free number is preventing you from booking. I do agree that they should have a toll free number though.

Disney does not provide a toll free number for the general public...WHY ? because they don't need one(per disney CMS).people still call by the thousands regardless .I think it is stinky too.Especially, since you can wait well over an hour on a toll call. But this is how Disney does it and will probably continue to do it unless phone calls stop coming in and people stop making ressies ( not going to happen).I have decided to have my TA make the rest of my arrangements at this point.

I don't understand why Disney, if they want to block the 800#, does not ask at hte beginning of the call if you are a TA and to enter your TA number. Would simplify it for them!

popcorn:: Popcorn anyone? :rotfl:

I might add I was given a toll free number by a Disney CM when making my ressie one year she told me to use it but not to post it which I haven't but it is now close. I guess she gave it out too many times <smiles> Not all the toll free numbers are travel agent numbers. If so Disney would ask for their TA number MHO only

it's my understanding that they do ask for your TA iata or clia number to get thru on the TA line... the toll free numbers posted here (now and in the past) are not TA lines, but other back office lines...

No some of the numbers are for food vendors, and buisness contractors etc.If Disney wanted people to know about 1800 numbers they would publish them.As one disney CM told me "Disney does not have 1800 numbers because they do not need them.People will still call anyway" It is stinky but true.

Thank you. I too wonder why they don't have a toll free number, but that is the way it is.

1) It is really quite simple; there are two main reasons
. . . the number of WDW options
. . . people calling frequently to change things (eateries or resorts)
2) With the number of options, calls take a long time.
3) Other hotels can offer 1-800, because you call for a room and that is it.
4) At WDW, they have to go through a lot of options for rooms, views, tickets, packages, etc.
5) As for changes, most people change things at least once.
6) Many people change things A LOT.
7) Thus, WDW would pay for 1-800 service for no revenue.
8) Once the sale is made (original ADR or ressie), changes add no more revenue.

NOTE: The excuse that vacations are already expensive will not wash. WDW wants to make as much profit as they can, so avoiding the hundreds of thousands of dollars for 1-800 numbers in one method.
