Tokyo Dining or Teppan Edo?

My fiance and I are big sushi and Japanese food lovers so, naturally, we want to try some of the awesome food in the Japan area of Epcot while we're there. Right now I have an ADR for Teppan Edo because we love the hibachi restaurants around us, but after looking at some reviews, I'm not so sure! I've read that it's not as good as other hibachi restaurants and that you don't get as much food with your meal. My fiance's favorite part of hibachi dinner is the miso soup they give you and it looks like they make you pay extra for it at Teppan Edo. Would it maybe be a better choice to go with Tokyo Dining?

I really like Tokyo Dining. The miso soup is great. We usually don't go to Teppan Edo, because we've got several great hibachi restaurants in our area.

I don't remember getting the miso soup. Teppan Edo was okay. We didn't leave wishing we had gone somewhere else. We won't do it again though. We have a hibachi restaurant close to us that is much better.

Tokyo Dining: for adults who enjoy sushi & tempura
Teppan Edo: for families with children & those seeking an intro hibachi who may otherwise be apprehensive about Japanese-style restaurants

I've been to both 3x plus.

My favourite is Tokyo Dining because I love their tempura. Ask for a window seat and be prepared to wait a few mins until one opens up. Gorgeous view of the lagoon and sometimes you can watch/listen to the drum show outside. Tokyo Dining doesn't have great theming/decor so a window seat makes a huge difference. The wait staff at Tokyo Dining is incredible & I never feel rushed. Whereas the dining experience at Teppan Edo often feels rushed. Last Fall, my Teppan Edo dinner lasted 40 mins max. Very quick turnover of tables.

We think both the food and the overall dining experience is much better at Tokyo Dining.

I've done both and prefer home town sushi places to Tokyo Dining. It was good, not great. I am a sushi fan and have eaten sushi in Tokyo. Saying that, it wasn't a bad meal at all, but pricey. I wouldn't hesitate to go back if my dining companions wanted to go, but I wouldn't book it over other Epcot offerings.

We love Teppan Edo - especially with kids. It's a fun dinner with the interactive chef, and the food is simple and tasty. It's easy to satisfy picky eaters, and the portions are good. It's not cheap either. I do try to book here once per long trip.

I went ahead and made an ADR for Tokyo Dining. I hear you can get an awesome view of the fireworks if you sit on the balcony so I think we'll try to arrive early and get a seat there. Thanks everyone!

We liked Tokyo Dining so much we ended up having lunch there twice on our last trip.

Just to clarify, there is no balcony seating. You can sit at the windows overlooking the balcony, but not on the balcony.
I think you made a good choice. We enjoy both Teppan Edo and Tokyo dining. But given your hesitation I think Tokyo Dining is the better choice.
Enjoy

I agree with going with Tokyo Dining. You'll want to go out and stand at the rail on the balcony a few minutes before Illuminations starts to get a good view and even then it's not a great one.
