I had been planning on Teppan Edo but seems like I have read some mixed reviews. We will have our 2 kids with us, and they're fairly picky. Just wondering which of the 2 has a better atmosphere and better food.

I have never been to Tokyo Dining so I can't comment on that. However, Teppan Edo is a must do for us. I also have a very picky eater and she loves eating there. The whole dining experience is fun for the kids. They love watching the food being cooked, they love eating with the chopsticks and best of all.....they really like the food too. So, my vote would be for Teppan Edo.

We have ever did Toyko dining either but we have done Teppon Edo and will be doing again this March. I have two kids ages 10 and 7 and my 7 year old can be very picky with food choices. She loved the food and the whole atmosphere. Our family had a great time!!!

I absolutely love Teppan Edo much more the Tokyo. We had picky eaters (adults and kids) with us last time and they very much enjoyed the show and the food. While planning the trip this year, the picky eaters specifically asked if we were going back to Teppan Edo. Enough said!

Only did Teppan Edo and we really love it. It is not really better than my local Benihana though so take that into consideration when making your decision because if you eat there often your not getting much of a different experience, but the food is still really really good.

With all that in mind its still a must do for us because even though we have some great places where I live that may be similar and many times much better and more authentic than any Disney restaurant we don't go out to eat very often; mainly just on birthdays and anniversaries so why skip something because you can get it at home (even though you never go and get it...lol)

Thanks everyone.... we're gonna stick with our original plan of Teppn Edo, Im glad to hear the positive feedback! We have never taken the kids to this type of dining so I think they will get a kick out of it.

One more weighing in for Teppan Edo. We are bummed it didn't work out for us to go this time, since we dine there every time we're at Disney. We're trying to branch out a bit an try new places. Enjoy your Teppan Edo experience!

We have one picky one. He loves Teppon Edo and has asked to go back next trip.

Me personally, I prefer Tokyo Dining. But I think Teppan Edo is probably better for picky eaters.

Well, I have also plan to trip for Tokyo along with my family. I have already visited Tokyo couple of months ago. But I have not enjoyed Teppon Edo due to the scar of time. So I want to go for next trip.

Which would you all suggest for a couple doing a dinner alone? We LOVE Japanese food, and EPCOT is our choice for alone time. Last time we did Akershus and that was fun. We do the cooking at the table a lot here.

Also are the same "drinks" offered at both locations (adult)?

Sorry Japan is a place we always shop but have never eaten at at Disney, but we want to do this time!!!!

DBF and I have not dined at Teppan Edo but in Sept we ate at Tokyo Dining. It was just the two of us and we had a very nice table for two in front of the window looking out at the lake! I think at Teppan Edo you may have to sit at a table with another family and possibly kids so if you're trying to avoid that Tokyo Dining may be the way you wanna go!!

We LOVED Teppan Edo! DD10 is a picky eater, and this was her favorite restaurant, as well as DH's fave too! (My favorite was Kona Cafe, but Teppan Edo came in second!) Have a wonderful time at Teppan Edo!

TY after talking to DH on Skype yesterday we are thinking Tokyo Dining would be the best way to go.

As a couple with no kids, we still prefer Teppan Edo. Tokyo Dining was a big let down the last time we ate there. We ate at both places consecutive nights a couple months back, and I reviewed both here....

neither are particularly 'Japanese' as far as that goes. its been dumbed down to American palates. the sake choices have always been better in the store than at the restaurants.. but then we got spoiled by being taught the secrets( they only export the crappy cheap stuff to restaurants)

Alas, nobody seems to sell habu sake in the States at all....

sooo looking forward to my trip to Okinawa in December( despite Okinawa being decidedly NOT 'real' Japanese. Just ask any Local heheheh)

I prefer Tokyo Dining over Teppen Edo if I had to choose between the two.

Another vote here for Tokyo Dining. We've eaten at both, and much prefer it for a "couple" dinner. Especially since we can have hibachi-style dinners at home (much less expensively). We prefer the ambiance here, and thought the quality of the food was just fine. But by all means check out the menus for both places, and see which one appeals to you the most. I rarely select a WDW restaurant based on reviews, since everyone's tastes are so different.

Hey, for a couple dining alone I would definitely choose Tokyo Dining. This trip we tried Teppan Edo and it was definitely nothing special. It was also a bit frustrating that you couldn't get a sushi appetizer with the DxDP. Anyhow..

as a couple that likes Japanese food, you might also want to consider California Grill, they have an awesome sushi chef and the sushi we had there was fantastic, and there are about 7 sushi choices on the menu (definitely enough for a meal)

We just at at Teppan Edo last week. My kids enjoyed the food as did my husband and I but we felt rushed the whole time and there was a hard sell on the cocktails. We ordered two cocktails and they kept coming back and asking if we would like to order more the whole time. Also there was a very rushed atmosphere as they were definitely trying to turn tables. Tokyo dining and Teppan share the building. You enter through Tokyo dining. I think TokyoDining had a great view and atmosphere. If I were to do it again I would choose Tokyo dining as it looked more relaxed with virtually the same food just no Teppan show.
