Tokyo Dining on the DDP?

So I was looking at the menus on allears, and I didn't know what you could do if you wanted to use the DDP at Toyko Dining, but you wanted sushi. Can you just not get it, do you have to pay OOP, or do you get a certain assortment of it, since they're cheap? Has anyone done this before? Thanks!

There have been several threads about this and still no clear answer. Some posters have reported that dining plan guests can only order off the appetizer/entree/dessert menu (what AllEars has posted) and anything off the sushi menu is OOP.

I figured there must have been threads about it before, I knew I couldn't have been the only person who ran into this problem, but when I did a search for "tokyo dining" I didn't find anything relating.. maybe I just didn't search the right thing. But thank you very much, I'll go by that assumption! :thumbsup2

I've found the search function to be rather hit-or-miss myself, even when searching terms that I know should have hits.

Here is a recent thread on the topic that I just happened to still have in my subscribed threads - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2098597

Thank you very much, that helped! Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't understand how this all works.. it's so confusing.

Been there a few times, great atmosphere and the food is good. For sushi as an entree just the last two combo plates on the sushi menu are allowed on the DDP. The menu names totally escape me right now, I think one is Sushi Deluxe.

They hand you two menus there, that is what confuses most people. One is just sushi, the other is all their other dishes. Just the two selections from the sushi menu are allowed as an entree on the plan, but there are several other tempura or combo plates, as well as plain grilled beef, chicken, or salmon that can be an entree for the DDP that are on the main menu.

We usually order from the main menu, then order a sushi app. OOP for me. Hubby doesn't care for sushi but I like it. He is strictly a meat-n-potatoes type, but enjoys the plain grilled items with a choice of sauce on the side.

That makes me sad. We just made our ADRs for June and Tokyo Dining was on the list. It may have to be changed now. We made the reservation thinking that the larger sushi roll platters like the Volcano roll or the Rainbow roll would count as an entree.

If I have to pay OOP for what I want then what is the point?

That ended up being our decision too. We've got a non-dining plan trip coming up since we're taking advantage of the 4/3 to get cheap non-expiring tickets, and we'll try Tokyo Dining then. I've been drooling over the volcano roll ever since the DIS first posted photos back when TD was brand new, and there's no point in going if that isn't covered on the plan. Since we do the deluxe plan, I just can't see paying OOP for additional food.

I saw that picture too and knew that I wanted it. :cool1: Now the question becomes what to put in its place? We could do Teppan Edo but that is just Benihanas. We are already doing Le Cellier for lunch because they didn't have dinner times available for the date we are in Epcot.

We really enjoyed Teppan Edo, but we don't have a Benihanas nearby so it isn't something we get very often at home and the kids love that style of dining. We also really loved dinner at Tutto Italia.

I still haven't managed to try Le Cellier. It is one I call 90 (or 180) out for, get the ADR, and then end up changing it when plans change... Three trips, three misses. :rotfl:

We just went to Tokyo Dining on the DP last night. They have two menus, you can order anything off the first menu which includes their tempura/sushi or tempura/sashimi combos or you can order the two sushi samplers off the separate sushi menu. I can't recall the names but one was larger and one was slightly smaller. We decided to order the tempura/sushi combos and then add some extra rolls oop. We had an enormous quantity of food. The combos themselves would have been PLENTY. BTW, the Green Tea Pudding was delicious.... well the bites I had, my one year old ate almost my entire serving. :)

It was a great dinner.

That confirms it. The Tokyo Dining ADR will have to be canceled now. I had my heart set on the Volcano roll. :sad1:
