I have a folding potty seat that I might bring to WDW with me for my son. He is ok going on the regular size toilet. I have seen toilet covers for kids, but wouldn't the ones that WDW provides in the bathrooms be suffiecient? I might just use the folded seat in our hotel room. I do remember SOME bathrooms, especially at AK, having kids' sized toilets, too. But I know they're not everywhere.

So, should I invest in the kids covers or just use what is at WDW?

And I have read that some of you bring post-it notes to cover the auto-flush sensor. Does this really work? My kids hate the flushing noise and if I remember correctly, Disney toilets seem to be on the loud side.

Thanks!

Quite loud, if I am not careful, ds4 will run out with his pants down to get away from them. I would think the covers provided would be fine, they are made to fit adult toilets.

Honestly I never covered the seats ever, just washed hands and all 3 kids I've taken have been fine. the flushers are loud though, so covering those can help until they get used to the noise.

my mantra is carry as little to the parks as necessary!

I agree completely. Toilet seat covers are a waste of time and money. The average library book has way more germs than a toilet seat. Just teach proper hand-washing. And take some hand sanitizer gel if it makes you feel better. :)

We used the foldable one for the parks & we brought the toilet ring type for the hotel room. My oldest has a fear of falling in & she hates the sensors.

OK, while I will agree about a library book have lots of germs, how can you NOT cover a toilet seat? Especially when you walk in and those gals who stand to pee and don't bother wiping the seat have left little yellow droplets all over? That's just so gross. Everytime I see that I want to put up a sign that says,

"If you sprinkle when you tinkle please be neat and wipe the seat."

I always cover the seat with the provided seat cover AND I make sure I wash my hands well - same goes for my kids.

I have never used a seat cover. If there is pee on the seat, I either use a different stall, or wipe it off with a big wad of tp first. You cannot catch anything from a toilet seat, unless you have some kind of cut or something on your rear. To me, covering is a waste of time. Plus, you have to take the cover off and flush it. So then are you not just getting the germs from the seat on your hands? So how have you really protected yourself?

:confused3 If you put the cover on correctly, it gets pulled in when the toilet flushes.

I guess different strokes for different folks. :confused3

Exactly!

Those toilet seat covers have always grossed me out. I would much rather have whatever germs are on the toilet on my butt than on my hands.

Very interesting article. Hard to believe, but now I'll go to the first stall instead of the last! ;)

Your toothbrush also has more germs on it than a toilet seat. Disgusting, but true. :scared1:

Then they must need better instructions, because there seem to be an awful lot of them left behind. Which is really gross! If you do use one, please check that it is gone before leaving the stall. Thank you!

I agree I hate to walk in and see one of them half in and half still stuck on the seat because obviously the flush isn't going to take it down and now I have to touch it. Sit don't hover and don't use a cover- the skin is a wonderful invention, one of the best barriers to germs ever invented.

I now have a new appreciation for public toilets.:rotfl2:

Funny, I just auditioned for the show Urinetown, which is all about public toilets.

Thank you for saying this!!! I was a custodial CM last year at DTD so I have seen it ALL! I just want to say that you guys haven't even seen the worst of it... My whole life I have never used a toilet seat cover and I still don't even after being a custodian. The things that gross me out in a public bathroom are not flushing, leaving the seat cover there (or in the little trash can!), and pee on the seat. The sensor doesn't always work... that is why there is a little button, DON'T HESITATE TO PUSH IT! The seat cover does not always go down! And, even though I have never stood to pee, I will not judge if you do, but wipe up your mess (you guys are the reason that people use seat covers)!

Everyone is mentioning that there is germs on a toilet seat, which does not make sense (pee is the most sterile thing coming out of your body!), there is way more germs on the money that gets passed around at the parks!

I just bought one of the folding potty seats. It is heavier and larger than I expected. I do keep it in my car but I don't carry it around in my diaper bag. I definately would NOT carry it around the parks unless I absolutely had to! DD is a tiny just turned 2, just starting to use the potty, and she is still scared of the adult size potty, hopefully she'll get over that before our next trip. So while I would carry the folding seat for her so she wouldn't fall in, definately would not take it for the germ issue.
