Toilet paper - over or under?

I'm the same way but passionate about it being under. I won't change it in other people's houses but my own though. My husband is one of those "over" people so it's a constant fight over here.

I don't think it's about right or wrong, just about personal preference.

Over is the generally accepted format. This is the format used by hotels, businesses, etc (there are some exceptions, but usually it is due to laziness).

It's always over if I'm replacing the roll....which, face it, is 90% of the time. But I wouldn't care enough to change it if it was under....I would just be astonished that anyone else in my house actually knows how to do it!

It is a highly-specialized skill. Luckily for my family, I have undergone toilet paper replacement training and can handle any toilet paper placement emergency.

OMG, I do this, too! There were 2 exceptions to the rule, though. Toddlers and puppies. If you have it under with these critters around, they can't unroll it! (if they are just rolling it around on the spool, anyway.)

Yes, I am the roll changer in my house, too. I will change a roll if it still has a small amount left, and then put the near empty roll on top. I don't know why I have this fear of running out.

My DS10 will change the roll in the kids' bathroom, too. I never asked him to do this, he just did it...

I believe that over is the "correct" way too.

And my grandmother would always fold it into a V whenever someone was coming over...


But... I prefer it under and will flip the roll if someone else puts it over in my house. I just think it unrolls better and it's easier to grab the part that's hanging down without pawing all over the roll.


I also think there's a correct way to fold towels and got into a huge fight with a friend over it when I was in high school.

I guess I'm one of the few that goes under...and honestly I don't know why. I used to do it in my old house because of the pets...Tends to be a little harder for them to unroll it when it was under. Now it's just out of habit I guess.

It depends on where the roll is. At my parent's house it's on a wall that goes out slightly due to the linen closet being on the other side. So it feels easier to grab with it being under.

Here, at our house, the roll is on the wall next to the toilet and feels easier to grab with it being over.
