Hi Everyone:

I just e-mailed DCL. I told my husband today about their new policy. He was quite upset. He told my to write them a letter. I just sent them an e-mail. Our son will be 19 months old when we cruise. Our only option now is to never take him with us when our 8 year old wants to go to the pool. I asked them if they were planning to do anything for the toddlers (sprinkler?) I just thought that if enough people wrote to them, then maybe they would do something.

Hi Wendy! You missed this topic on an earlier post. It was getting pretty heated so it went to the debate board. Basically this isn't a new policy. They are enforcing a policy that they previously did not enforce. This was made because of the "accidents" that might happen in the pools with children under 3yrs of age and the bacteria that enters the water. Personnally, I have seen older children a lot dirtier in the pools then toddlers ( and yes, I have yell at older children for releaving themselves in the pools - the two boys I spoke to thought it was funny and that's how I found out). I had a long discussion with my DH and we both do not like the policy but you can't do anything about it. Talked to several Disney cruise people and said nothing will be done. So you will have to split up the time with your husband so one can take your older daughter and one stay back with your youngster. There's a lot to do as a family on board so hopefully swimming isn't one you all enjoy doing. Your youngster CAN dangle his feet in the water but that's about it.

Hope this helps!

When I heard about the policy, I emailed Disney. I have yet to hear anything from them. I suggested sprinkers in another section of the ship (far enough away to prevent the temptation of a pool). The "fountains" (the water jets that come up from the ground) that are at Downtown Disney & other places would be ideal, but that's a construction issue & I don't expect to see anything changed for a long time.
On our first cruise (3 day), we never even made it to the pool. It was too crowded the first day or so & then we were too busy, so with this next cruise next month, if I can keep my 8 year old away, the 2 year old should be no problem.

When I tried to call Disney and talk to them, the got a hold of my TA and told her that there would be nothing added for the toddlers. Disney says there is nothing they can do and try to pass these calls off. They have had PLENTY!
