We have 3 kids, our littlest is only 2 and a small eater. She grazes all day really rather than eating big meals. If we go to any table service restaurants in the parks or Disney Village, will we be expected to buy a full meal for her? It would be a complete waste of money really. I would prefer to just get a small plate and give her some bits off everyones plates but would that be frowned upon or not allowed? Also, if the meals are big would our other children (7 and 5) be able to share a meal with an extra plate?

Thanks

PS I know this probably makes me sound really tight, but I know from last year that the portions were HUGE and I hate seeing food thrown away :-(

We had a 2 year old in our party and the only time we bought a meal for her was one lunch time. She got pasta from Bella Notre. The rest of the time we asked for an extra plate and paid for a juice for her and she ate off everyone else's plate. She was more than happy with that and it saved money. The restaurants weren't bothered and the counter services didn't know.

Excellent! That's great to know, thanks Groovee :-)

Another bonus for you :thumbsup2 .The buffets don't charge for under 3's (including Inventions Character buffet).

I remembered that too. Made the table service restaurants a good deal especially as the other two just shared one meal :)

What is the inventions character buffet?

Inventions is one of the restaurants in the Disneyland Hotel, and they serve a lunchtime and evening buffet - though it's only during the evening one that the characters visit. There is some more info about it here, on the DLP Foodguide

I thought you could only go to the restaurants in your own hotel? Last time we stayed at the Santa Fe so only ate either in the park or at our own hotel, didn't realise you could hob nob with the upper echelons at the DLH :confused3 :rotfl:

In any disney property you are welcome to eat there but it is recommended you book first and it's no problem to use your charge card from your room to pay for it too.

That only applies for breakfasts :)

Hi

When we go my youngest DD will be a week off 3. We don;t intend to buy any meals for her but just ask for an extra plate. My eldest is only 4 so some days we may be tempted to ask for 2 extra plates :rotfl:

Anyway, will they question her age at all at places like inventions where they don't pay? :confused3

Thanks

Janet

Thanks Janet, I think that we will definately do the same for our DD (she'll be 2 and about 9 months when we go). Not sure about the age thing, I guess you could take a photocopy of her passport to keep in your bag in case they ask you?

You don't even need to be staying in a Disney hotel to visit, have a drink or a meal.
We visited each hotel for the character meets last visit :goodvibes

No-one every checked DD's age with us so I don't think you will need to carry ID for them. They will probably just trust what you say . As long as they don't eat loads I think they will be okay if they are a little older than the 3 year old cut off as both you and your partner will be paying full price.

We have been asked at buffets but they have always taken our word for it.
