Toddlers ears on plane?

... by an expert, if your insurance will cover it. I didn't finally get a handle on my ear problems until I saw an otolaryngologist.

I have two tools to prevent inflammation from swimming, both of which came from my doctor. I use Elocon lotion, which is a sort of prescription eardrop (the active ingredient of which is mometasone furoate). In addition, I also use custom earplugs that were made to fit my ear canal.

I've never even heard of an otolaryngologist!!! Her PCP has repeatedly prescribed an antiobiotic for swimmer's ear but hasn't referred us to a specialist. Guess its time I get assertive and ask!

Another resounding endoresement for EarPlanes. I could never fly without SEVERE ear pain. (Poster child for bad ears, heck I still get ear infections at 36, and you are supposed to 'outgrow' them ). I have been travelling quite a bit for word, and really don't think I should be tearing up from ear pain in front of my VP. I started using them, and now would not EVER fly without them. Just make sure for the little ones you get the child sized ones.

I bought some ear planes just to have them for my 3 year old this Sunday (Yippee!!), but I can't imagine him letting me put those in his ears. I bought the chewable decongestant, but I think I'll take the previous advise and tonight have him taste one. If that works great - otherwise I'll have to take the liquid form and give it to him before we board. I'll also take a sippy cup and maybe some M&M's to get him to swallow while we take off.

Last year I gave him sudefed before taking off and didn't have any problems. For a few seconds I thought his ears hurt, but it didn't appear to last.
