Toddlers and Tiaras season premiere.....

I saw an episode last week and one dad seemed very uncomfortable with his daughter looking so old. It makes me wonder how many of the dads have any say in what their daughters do.

And, yep, I'm a train-wreck watcher! I've never heard of these here in Northern California.

not sure if it's still the case, but antioch and plesant hill used to be big areas for these types of pagents. it got to be that you could'nt go into some of the diners near the hotels on the weekends without seeing packs of little pagent princesses. it was realy creepy too-there was definatly an element of creepy guys who would sit at the counters drinking cup after cup of coffee and leer

i think things changed a bit when allot of the hotels began to refuse bookings for these things (they got too many complaints from other guests about kids running wild and noise, and they attracted some realy sleazy audience members). there's still allot of stores in the area that specialize in pagent wear, but it seems like the bulk of the actual pagents are being held in sacramento.

Yeah - I can see them in Sacto, and maybe the Valley - Manteca, Modesto. I see stuff about older girls, locally, in Miss Teen California, so I guess there may be something for them to be in when they're younger.

hehe - I can see hotels not wanting to book these things. It got so we had a hard time finding hotels to accept our soccer teams (ah, the days of "elevator tag" - I ruined the fun with that one any time I heard about it!)

Although I am glad that I don't have to live with her, I have to admit that I am a fan of Makenzie's.:duck: I think she loves doing those pageants. That is one strong willed little girl and I bet that if she really didn't want to get up on that stage, she wouldn't. I'm sure mom got her back on the show because she wants Makenzie to be famous. I could definitely see that girl being successful in commercials or something like that.

Danielle, on the other hand, was one of the most unlikable girls they have ever featured. So much so that I actually laughed when she was brought to tears! "She's stealing my spotlight."

I compete in pageants at the moment and am part of a "pageant family" but the pageants that I compete in are glitz like those seen on toddlers and tiaras but the one particular system that I compete in is nothing like what they air on t/v. Some of you might have heard of the Sunburst Pageant System and they have their occasional mall pageants. I started out here about two years ago (I'm 21 now) and decided to compete at the state level. Only came out in third place because of being extremely new to the pageant world and not knowing what we needed to win but I gotta tell ya, having the right "base" if you will does help. The people that I have worked with in getting me ready for this years state are so wonderful and down to earth. Even my hair and makeup artist that does my hair and makeup doesn't allow her girls to dress in anything hoochie or inappropriate. She always makes sure that her girls are very age appropriate. Not to mention, my coach teaches not only my routines but she also teaches all of her girls how to be good sports and to compete like a fair and true competitor. My hair and makeup artist even said that she firmly believes that Toddlers and Tiaras has given the pageant world a bad name for itself. She also REFUSES to appear on any show like that (i.e. toddlers and tiaras or little miss perfect). She said "I'll do hair and makeup and come to help my girls but I DO NOT want to be featured on camera". Now there's always the stigma of the crazy pageant mom and lemme tell ya, lots of the mom's that I have met competing through sunburst are so wonderful! They care about not only their daughters but anyone else who's competing in the group. Its so much fun to sit together at crowning or different events and cheer for one another and help out where needed. I think that toddlers gives the pageant world a bad rep and my experiences goes to show that there are still some good pageants out there.

*steps down off the soapbox* Sorry about that just wanted to put my voice in there. but in any case, if you guys thought mackenzie was bad, the next week there was a girl at the Universal Royalty pageant who had the WORST outfit of choice I had ever seen. I was so appalled.

I started watch the episode with Ava Perez did she do well? (Sorry I kinda like the show and I started watching and had to go to bed! )

is there anywhere to watch full episodes online?

I would specifically like to watch the one with Danielle (where she loses at the end)

Some of those parents are just beyond belief. Eww.

My brother is dating a girl who's in pageants (just won yesterday, actually) and has been competing a few years since she's been in college. I told my brother that I have no problem with his gf being in pageants - but if things work out & I have little neices, I had better not see them in one of those shows. Then we'll have problems. :)

Honestly, I feel very sorry for that little Mackenzie. She acts "bratty" because she is extremely stressed. Even when she says "I don't want to go to the pageant" and "I don't want to do this" she is ignored. At FOUR YEARS OLD she feels that the only way she's acceptable is to be made-up, dressed-up and performing and winning. Her mother has given her that message loud and clear. And that's hugely stressful for a child. No wonder she needs her pacifier!!! That's her stress relief. If they would take her out of that environment and let her be herself and have a normal life, I have no doubt that she'd be able to drop the pacifier and stop acting up.

Teresa

I also felt sorry for Mackenzie. When she was playing with her little windup kitten she was just playing like a little girl should play....except she was making the kitten practice for a pageant.:sad1:

she placed the same as she did on the last season. her dad was pretty disappointed. i was surprised because i thought she'd place a little higher.

i was SHOCKED at the madonna routine. really? WHO could ever think that was appropriate. and yet she won the most talented for the entire competition. i was just shocked by that whole thing. she was TWO. :sad2:

I'm from the south and glitz pageants (really ALL kinds of pageants) are very popular. When I was about 5 years old i told my mom I wanted to be in pageants because I'd see some of my friends in them and it looked so princessy. My mom said no bleeping way! I think to this day that was the only time I ever heard her use bad language and i still remember it!

Oh and I wanted to say that I watch those shows and enjoy them in a crazy way, but I'd never never never put my daughter in a pageant, glitz OR natural.

Mackenzie's mom seemed too calm. She sometimes had that glazed look in her eye made me wonder if she had been drinking.

She looked high as a kite in both shows.

The next episode got me ticked. Ava's dad called her his product. "It's like they're telling me my product hasn't improved!" and dressed her is his usual ugly as sin clothes. Then the little girl in the Madona cone bra just made me shake my head. I really thought the judges would count that against her. It reminded me of the strip tease in Little Miss Sunshine.

I thought for sure they would be appalled! I was also reminded of Little Miss Sunshine. She comes out in this angel robe and whips it off to reveal the cone bra.

My son was in pageants for a few years, but of course, the boys don't really do all the makeup and hooker hair, LOL. He just needed a suit and a hair cut and to smile on stage. He did the Sunburst ones, like a PP does. They weren't natural, but they weren't the full glitz things either. Some of the kids/parents were brats, but most were really nice. Many of the parents said they were doing it to build their child's self-esteem or get them into modeling. We did it b/c my son really like being on stage and he was a ham. When he wanted to stop at 4, we stopped.

I watch Toddlers and Tiaras because it is entertaining. No way would I do that kind of pageant with a kid. Fake tans, pageant coaches, hair and makeup people? No way.

I thought the cone bra outfit would be awful based on the commercials, but actually it kind of worked when paired up with Madonna's music. It went from "totally inappropriate" to "hilarious cheesecake". I think I would have laughed just as hard as the judges if I'd been in the room.

And WOW that kid's talented! Her routines were way more pulled together than I've ever seen for a 2yo. I hope her parents will be enrolling her in dance, gymnastics or athletics soon. I think she's wasted on the pageant circuit.

I loved Little Miss Sunshine. :)

Ok, folks....

I won't discuss particulars so as not to spoil it for you all - but trust me; this week does not disappoint with the crazy. OMG....I am bursting to discuss this with all of you.

I swear the parents they're finding are wackier & weirder. I don't know how they do it - I've honestly never seen " pageant moms" as bad as these gals. Ick times 10.

Interested to hear what you all think!

I'll have to tivo the rerun.

I don't mind this show, I don't like "Little Miss Perfect" on We. The judges all bother me and the host is just creepy.

As far as the twins mom I honestly don't see what the problem is. She at least knows that she is a trophy wife. I too like nice things and I don't see what the big deal is about wanting and liking designer items. :confused3 If she can afford it why not?

The host of Little Miss Perfect was a Disney World performer in his former lifestyle.

The stepmom of the red head tonight was cracking.me.up. Man, she was like a cartoon character! I just laughed watching her interviewed.
