toddler, solo grandmother and CP

Hi, does anyone have any good suggestions for me regarding how to handle the buffet at CP alone with my DGD2 1/2? She loved it last year with me and her parents, but this year she and I will be alone. I would be worried about leaving her at the table while I go to the buffet, but also worry about taking her with me in case she runs off. Should I just tie us together with flowered ribbons and hope for the best?

If it was me I think I'd have to take her with me. I guess it depends on where you are seated though. If your table is in front of the buffet and you are able to see her the whole time with your face toward her then I'd consider letting her sit there. I guess it depends on her personality too, will she get up and run away or cry if you leave?

If you bring her up with you I'd give her something to carry or hold to "help". Maybe a plate with a roll or some syrup and butter. Something to keep her busy. Good luck!

Totally agree with Lstar311- I would never leave a child alone at a table, especially if she is in a highchair, or boster. Take her with you, give her a plate and let her pick things.

Just take her up with you and then give her a little plate to carry or a piece of bread, etc. My 2.5 year old DD loves to help carry things from buffets.

thanks, guys. I hadn't thought of giving her something to hold! She loves to help and having a little plate of her own to hold is a wonderful idea. I really didn't feel comfortable leaving her at the table alone.... even if I could see her. But she will feel really grown up going with me and holding her own small plate.
