Hi - I was wondering if anyone knew where I could purchase a toddler sized rain poncho? I'd like one for my DS in a size 24 months. I've seen them from ages 3 and up, but he wouldn't fit in that yet. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance! :)

I buy the cheap adult ones from walmart and cut a few feet off the bottom.

I bought a 2-3 for my 18mo. old daughter at Walmart. It looks a little big, but it's a rain poncho so it will just cover a little more. It even has Ariel on it and it was just $3:banana:

We bought one at Disney for my ds who was wearing 24 months then..it was a little big, but we just tie a knot on both sides, and it works out really well.

When DS was little, he hated the ponchos. he much prefered a toddler size rain coat. I have heard other parents say the same thing. Target has really cute kids rain coats.

You are probably better off with a stroller rain cover. If he is in the stroller under the rain cover he won't need a poncho. I never used them for my kids, just the stroller covers.

I was going to post the same thing, my dd's did not like ponchos at all. We found the toddler size raincoats could be folded up just as small as the ponchos and fit nicely into a quart size ziplock.

Also - as my pp mentioned we found a stroller cover to be a lifesaver even with a poncho or raincoat. Those afternoon showers can pop up quickly.

I have seen toddler ponchos (and raincoats) at Wallmart recently but you have to look for them. Sometimes they are in with the sippie cups, other times with the umbrellas and belts.

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I didn't even think about cutting some off the bottom of a poncho - that's a great idea. I'll check our walmart to see if they have smaller ponchos. It's true he might not like them but then again big sis will have one and he wants EVERYthing she has. Plus I like how they cover a little more than a raincoat. We do also have a rain cover for the stroller, so all set there.

Thanks again! If anyone has other ideas I'd love to her them too! :)

Be sure to put him in get-wet shoes, like crocs or water sandals. Those puddles are going to be irresistable to a kid that age. (And I can tell you from experience that WDW puddle-jumping pics are keepers!)

I agree. We never used ponchos or rain coats. If the baby/child really didn't want to get wet we would put them in the stroller with the cover on (which also works for wind and storing things during the day).
Usually the kids and I enjoyed playing in the rain and puddles, and fountains, and pools, and ...
We always had an extra outfit in a 1 gallon zip loc for the baby (when I say baby it means my current youngest) and I always made sure I had a change of clothes for all the kids in the car.:umbrella:

Me too. :thumbsup2

DS hated the poncho, and has always been much happier underneath the stroller rain cover...

If your local WalMart does not carry toddler size, you may want to look at Dollar Stores in your area. Here in Canada, our Dollarama chain sells Winnie the Pooh for Toddlers at $1.00. If it's too long, I'd just cut some of the bottom off.
