I emailed MS to ask if they have baby gates available for use in a 2 story GV. The answer is no. Has anyone run across this problem? We are expecting our first grandchild in Sept. We have a family trip planned for Dec. 2010. We have stayed in a GV 4 times and it never occured to me that the stairs would be a problem. I guess you could say I am planning ahead.

If they don't have baby gates available then I would just bring my own if I was in that situation. I would look into the way the staircase is configured to see what type of baby gate you would need. I'm surprised they don't have these...they have bedrails and pack & plays available.

I was surprised also. They gave the name of rental companies. We fly into MCO and not sure how to pack a baby gate made for stairs. The modern staircase at the BLT might be a problem.

If this helps, we had rented a double stroller last July from "A Baby's Best Friend" and we were extremely satisfied with our rental. We do not own a double stroller, and we had a 3 and a half year old, and 14 month old with us, so even though my big one outgrew his stroller a year before that I knew he would need one at Disney (and he did, and took advantage and napped in it plenty at the parks!). This company was wonderful...the double stroller was a Graco and it was like new. They deliver the rented item to your hotel, and you return it at the same spot where you picked it up on the morning you check out! It is so simple and does not waste any time! We knew we were arriving early and going to a park on the day of arrival, so we had them deliver the stroller the day before ( I think they guarantee it arriving by 6PM so we knew we needed it a day earlier). It was no problem, and the same price too!

Thank you very much for the info. It still seems odd that Disney would not provide gates for families. As you mentioned they seem to provide everything else and the amount they would need for the DVC GV would not be excessive.

We have used dining room chairs as a makeshift babygate in the past, they also make a great bed rail with the backs against the bed.

We were in a Grand Villa at OKW when our DGD was only 11 months old. She made a mad dash for the stairs every chance she could. Our DD and family had driven down so they just brought a gate with them. It didn't fit real well but was more than enough to prevent her from starting up the stairs before we could reach her. With 7 adults and only 1 baby she only made it close once.
One of the local rental companies would probably have something that will fit more securely.

I had the same worry as we will be in a GV in December with two toddlers! A Baby's Best Friend has gates available for rental.

I am surprised they don't have baby gates either. This was a concern for me as well. We are traveling in Sept. 2010 and will have 5 children with us. I am considering the GV at AKL (Jambo House) and BW because they have one story grand villas.

Has anyone stayed in a one story GV?
