Why do toddler clothes start looking so "big kid"?

My daughter is now in 18-24 months, and once she is too big for these, we are on to 2T's. However, the clothes seem so different. She's still so "babyish" and looks sweet in sundresses, rompers. Why does 2T seem to switch to graphic t-shirts, miniskirts, spagetti straps, etc!!??

When DD was that age, I shopped a lot at JC Pennys, Babies R Us, Kohls and Gymboree. I was usually able to find clothes that were less trendy (and actually looked like toddler clothes) and were mix/match so it was easier to coordinate. It gets even worse as they get older unfortunately.

My DD wore a lot of Gymboree at that age. She now refuses to wear it because the styles do look young.

Carters also has really sweet clothes for little girls. They always looks so neat and fresh in them! Those were the places I shopped most.

I know what you mean. My youngest is now 10, but even when she was a toddler it was hard to find an outfit that didn't look like it was for a teenager. If I had my way, DD10, DD14, and heck even DD20 would all still be wearing their Kelly's Kids appliqued dresses and bubbles. :goodvibes
