Toddler bed or just take side off crib?

u could also try just taking the side off the crib and convert it BUT buy a new comforter set so it looks different..

i actually bought my son a toddler bed - the blue car one BUT i got it at a 2nd store for 50.00 so worth it he loved it and then my younger son used it..

I too converted mine to a daybed(did the same with my other 2) and they all slept in that until about age 4-5 when they just where getting too tall :) I also at the beginning would put an extra blanket on the floor just in case they fell off, but it really rarely happened......

Wow! No little ones in our house, but I am soooo remembering that for my neices and nephews!

Just wait until they start to take them out and use them to play with at night :rotfl2: Seriously, it works so well and saves a ton of money.

I just took the side off and put pillows on the floor. It wasn't far at all to the floor and I think DS fell out maybe 1 or 2x max. No way was I spending money on a toddler bed.

My son actually just moved to a toddler bed from the crib...he knows its different from the crib and calls it his big boy bed. As PP's have said they are not expensive...mine was $50 at Walmart and my dd slept in it for 1 1/2 yrs and my son will probably do the same. Good luck figuring it out! :)

We put our son on a good quality twin size mattress on the floor when it was time for his sister to take over the crib. We did the same with DD when she outgrew the crib. They both still use their mattresses on their twin size frames now - no buying the toddler size only to replace it with the twin.

We loved the mattress on the floor. We never had to worry about falling out of bed of course! But the twin mattress was still big enough for all of us to climb on and read books or play or for one of us to lay with our children if they were sick or just to cuddle as they fell asleep.

Thanks, everyone!

As I said, her room is so small that if we were to get her a twin bed (or even a twin mattress) we would have to take out her bookcase; the room is not wide enough to fit those two items in addition to her dresser.

I found a new toddler bed on Amazon that gets good reviews and ships free (free returns too if she absolutely hates it, but I think she will love it!) for a total of $50, and I've been able to sell some of her cloth diapers lately online, so I'm using the money for that. At least I am not laying out anything (although any other $ we get will go into her bank account). We have a great crib mattress and hopefully I can sell the crib now (a little sad since both my kids used it...)

Appreciate all the feedback and offers!
