She would have turned 83 years old today. She was a wonderful person that raised 5 children alone after suddenly becoming a widow at age 48. She worked all of her life to support her children and yet still found time to be both a wonderful mother and father to them. She was fun-loving, out-going and had a great sense of humor. She would travel at the drop of a hat, would be ready to go with a moments notice. She loved Foxwoods, bingo and her family. She could rock a crying baby to sleep in minutes, make you laugh with her funny comments and inspire you to achieve more than you ever thought you were capable of. She had the magical way of making people feel like they were the most important person in the world to her. She had a smile that was ever-present even in the worst of times, a sparkle in her eyes that never left her, even during her terrible illness. She lived with love, grace, dignity, humor, acceptance and strength and she died with those same qualities. She taught me so much about living and loving. No matter how hard I try, I will never be able to be the wonderful person she was.
Today, I will celebrate what would have been my mom's 83rd birthday with wonderful memories of her and her life.
She was not only my mother, she was my best friend and I still miss her terribly 3 years after her death.
