I have been married longer than I have not. I have been having a lot of ups and downs and this week DH is finally home and we are spending a lot of time cuddling and talking. It has been great. Tonight we are going out to dinner and then home to watch some old Christmas movies. Just wanted to share.
I would like to say we have both done a lot of changing over the years. The first 10 were pretty tough with us moving around the country and having our boys. The second 10 years were much easier but we were so focused on the children it was hard to find time for just us. The last 10 years have been the easiest as far as our relationship but more difficult as we have both lost parents and had all the trials of our kids as they go through their teens and 20's.
DH said tonight he thinks we have done so well because we took the time to know each other very well before we married. I guess that's true. We dated just 1.5 years but spent a lot of time together. We had a very small wedding, just siblings and parents. We just had a small party at our home as a reception. I think, for us, we did it just right.
