Today in Music History:

In 1707, J.S. Bach was hired as the organist in Muehlhausen, Germany.

In 1810 was the first performance of Beethoven’s music for Goethe’s Egmont.

In 1843, Composer Edvard Grieg was born in Norway. He composed some of the finest Piano Concertos as well as the familiar Peer Gynt Suites.

The First Performance of John Phillip Sousa’s famous "Washington Post March" was conducted by Sousa, performed by the Marine Band outside the Smithsonian Institution in 1889.

Singer/Songwriter Harry Nilsson was born in 1941.

In 1968, Jazz Guitarist Wes Montgomery died. From Indianapolis, he was famous for the blues standard “Naptown Blues” (Quoted in my Avatar/tag area, BTW).

In 1965, Bob Dylan recorded “Like a Rolling Stone”.
