1855 - The Washington Monument was officially dedicated in Washington, DC. The monument, however, was not completed for another 33 years. The onset of the Civil War slowed down its progress

1947 - Edwin Land demonstrated the Polaroid Land Camera to the Optical Society of America in New York City. It was the first camera to take, develop and print a picture on photo paper all in 60 seconds. The photos were black and white.

Have a great Friday! :)

My husband was back in court 3 weeks after his bypass.

Very interesting today, Patrick, thanks.

Good stuff! Thanks, Patrick....:D

When I toured Washington a few years back as a chaparone for several hundred 8th graders:rolleyes: ....I learned something neat. If you look at the Washington memorial you can actually see the difference in color of the stones. You can see it changing about 1/4 of the way up from the ground. It is from when construction had to be stopped during the Civil war and then started up again a few years later. They were unable to match the color of the stone when the project resumed.
