Grew up in north Jersey. Not common, but it was an ethnic remark. Still I did check for definition before I went with it.

I’ve also never heard of the last word. I only got it because i had all 5 letters in the wrong place. Nothing else worked. I looked up the definition. I also spent way too much time on the easiest word in the first block.
