I think the OP could have stated what she was buying without telling everyone it was EIC $$. People arent saying what she should buy i think they are just surprised she flaunted her refund mostly EIC $ and then is buying so BIG ticket items
if you are EIC and living poorly then the money that you get back tha tyou didtn put in should be spent wisely
that way you dont have to take school loans and apply for heating assistance

I certainly hope its not here next year! But you never know..

I went back and reread some posts and I do want to appologize to you Nance as you are right.. You never said anything about the OP.. I had you confused with some other posts..

But there are some out there that do.. You guys are right.. If you cant pay for necessities than it makes more sense to use that money for necessities.. but the bottom line is what that person chooses to do with it is their own business.. I havent read any of OP's other posts on other threads.. I have seen where people mentioned the one about the gas bill.. but again if she chooses to go buy $5000 worth of clothes, alcohol or whatever.. who is to say she cant? its her money.. I do see why people feel the way they do and they have the right to feel that way.. but what can be done about it?

All I am trying to say is everyone, INCLUDING THE POOR, collectively create the demand for certain products/services which in turn causes the need for more jobs in specific fields.

Good grief what am I supposed to do, bow down to the rich for creating jobs??

I don't think you need to bow down to them, but acknowledging that they can't pay high tax rates AND create jobs too would be a good place to start.

What rubs me the wrong way is anyone not paying any income taxes at all. If you are getting a refund that reduces your tax liability to zero (or even less than zero), you are not a contributor. I do not think that is right.

i think you hit the nail on the head at the end
if a family needs EIC or it can help someone and their family i dont care but i dont think someone should be putting themselves into debt with school and applying for assistance, food stamps ( I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS THE OP) and then blowing the money
i mean if you get a refund of say 5000 that can pay for food, oil school supplies, clothes for your kids
i mean i take classes and i know they are expensive, so if you have a huge refund that could pay for almost a whole semester if not all of it
i cant do anythign about it but it doenst mean i dont care

Maybe you all don't trust Wikipedia, but I really do. Here is an article about EIC for anyone wishing to review it. NO WHERE does it mention ss or medicare. I think "poverty reducer" is a term flung around on the site.

Well, therein lies the next problem. Why are wages so low that one has to work 3 jobs to get by, unless you're working 10 hours per week at each job? It's really irrelevant. I don't feel it's the governments job to create jobs (no where in the Constitution is that a guaranteed right) but I don't think they should be working against the people either and that's exactly what I believe they do.

Sometimes I feel a commoner could do a better job in the White House. Well, maybe a little more often than sometimes. LOL

But the federal government is the single largest employer in the country. One of my jobs is for the feds and it's the best paying job I've ever had! Better than any jobs with private employers that's for sure.

Of course some are employed by the government, my point is, it's not a right that the Constitution guarantees us.

My point however was the fact that the government accepts contributions from big business to keep wages down. They do NOTHING about outsourcing and the Republicans (which I am one, but don't agree with them on this issue) believe the outsourcing is actually good for the country and the list goes on and on and all you caught was the fact that you work for the feds?

Well, my site didn't mention this at all, but even if this is true and I don't doubt you in the least, there is a far cry from $30,000 to $90,000. I guess it's a screw everyone in the middle theory?
