Hello I just wondered if you guys think I am expecting too much or not...

We go to Sears today to look at refridgerators. We find one that we like-great price $899. We get a salesperson to help us and he said $899 is for a white fridge (the one with the price on it was silver) and silver would be $949. It was on the tag in small print but that starts out my BF getting irritated. I decide that is fine it is the one I want. So the salesman looks it up in the system so we can buy it and there are none available ANYWHERE (?) So we discuss it and ask how much for the one on display. They say same price but with no warranty. (It comes with 1year usually) So you are punished for buying their last one? We were hoping for a much better deal since it had been on the salesfloor. My bf is really irritated now and asks for a mgr after about 1/2 an hour a mgr comes and said it was that price but did come with the warranty. By then BF was like forget it.
When buying a floor model do you expect to get a better deal?

I absolutely would expect a good discount when buying a floor model since it is not new and thousands of people have been through it. Obviously Sears could care less abou your business.

Definitely. It has been there how long? Who knows? We bought our dryer on a floor model at an appliance store around here. We were discounted 150$, and a full warranty. That is unacceptable to me.

absolutely a better deal for a floor model. I would not pay the price I would get for a NEW delivered model. A few years back we went and bought a big screen TV. The model we liked was no longer in stock and we bought the floor model! They gave us 15% off the purchase price and we got a smoking deal on it!

There's often a deal on the floor models when they're trying to clear them out...

but if this was a display of a current, ongoing model and you were trying to buy the display, they will have to reorder another one for the floor *and* they probably won't get orders for many of that model during the time they don't have one on the floor.

In a "here, buy the floor model because we're clearing them out", I would expect a discounted price. In the event that you're asking to buy the floor model but it's not a clearance situation, probably not.

Either way, the store has the right to set the price, and the customer has the right to choose whether or not to accept. :)

(Sorry about the frustration trying to order your fridge.)

You're right about the store having the right to set the price.
I would be glad to wait for a another one but they said since it ended with an 88 price point (949.88) it meant it had be discontinued. I thought that would make them motivated to get rid of it but I guess not. BF asked if they had any white ones and they didn't have any of those either!
