Today (4/30) early morning magic report

Coming from shades of green. Walked to the Polynesian - monorail was supposed to be working at 7 but was still in testing. They said buses would be coming but they didn't. So the front desk ordered a taxi for us! It was nerve wracking honesty. I love staying at bay lake tower for the accessibility to the MK (walking) and wished we had been staying there.

I'll bet is was stressful. We will be coming from AKL, thinking we maybe should take a taxi to the Contemporary and
walk over. Your daughter looks like she is having a blast! An almost empty Fantasyland sounds fabulous to me.

Checking in I snuck a peek at the clipboard and the list was VERY short. Maybe 25 "groups" total. I'm guessing a total of 40-50 people were there. We actually stopped for photo pass pics after we were let into the park and then headed to 7dmt.
No joke or exaggeration? I'm surprised it wasn't higher. First one had great reviews, price is a lot better than the night event and although Disney doesn't release numbers, some were guessing capacity for this may be around 400.
Glad you had a great time! Thanks for sharing!

Where do you even sign up for this? I can't find it on disneyworld.disney.go

Seems you're hoping for it to fail. Question is, why?

I don't think it is a stretch to understand why this isn't good for a LOT of people. For everyone staying off site, this could mean 3 days a week that MK is not a good place to start off your day. If it becomes popular and spreads to other parks, it just makes it much more difficult to access the parks without paying a hefty additional fee on top of the already expensive park tickets.

Thanks for the review! The pictures look amazing. There is something so magical about being in the park early before it gets crowded. I agree - I'd love to see this with, say, Adventureland, in addition to the ones with Fantasyland. :)

Dumb question - but on PP do you go through the standby queue or fastpass. I love the standby line.

I made a post on Tuesday asking for input on the EMM event at MK and decided to go for it today!

It was just me and my 4 year old dd and our original plan included breakfast at Crystal palace. We cancelled that and booked this instead. Getting to the MK that early was a hurdle but the actual party was great!

4 rides on that, needed a break so went on pooh. Then Peter Pan twice, then 7dmt 4 more times and pooh again. So we did 8 times on 7dmt, 2 Peter Pan and 2 pooh. By this point it was about 8:35 and while I originally hadn't intended to use the party time for eating, we headed in for breakfast hungry and tired of riding lol!

Breakfast while there were few options was actually fabulous! The veggie frittata was delicious as was everything else we had. They had replaced the Belgian waffles with French toast which was disappointing at first but still good. We headed back out at 9:01.

By 11 we had been on: barnstormer, dumbo, under the sea, met Ariel, tea cups, tomorrowland speedway, buzz, TTA and had a pseudo lunch of ice cream from the parlor.

Pretty awesome morning!

Was it worth it? watching my daughter run in an empty fantasyland and get to ride 7dmt over and over again - 100% yes. I was hesitant to do this even after the positive reviews from Tuesday but asked her opinion and we decided to go for it. I would totally do it again and it would be neat if they did these parties in each land with more rides open!

Thanks for this and your little one is adorable!

Thanks for the review. We are not early people either but I know our kids would get up early to ride 7DMT many times. The only time we got to do that ride multiple times is when it rains. I wasn't considering this but with all the good reviews we just might. Thanks for taking the time to review it - love the pictures and your DD is so cute.

I would take advantage of this but I don't think the days will work out during my trip.

I do hope this is successful. I would love to take advantage of it during our trip after Thanksgiving!

Now is probably the time to do it, if you're going to do it. With reports like this, I only see it getting more popular and less 'magical'. :D

I'd consider this also if Fromtierland was included but at that point they might as well just open up the whole park so don't see that happening.

Thanks for posting this and it sounds amazing! We are not morning people either, but would get up for this in a heartbeat. I really hope they extend it through August. I may be in the minority but I love the empty pictures of Fantasyland. When I see other pictures of people packed like sardines down Mainstreet I think to myself "that looks terrible". Yours look completely magical!

It feels very special to stroll down Main Street with the Park nearly empty too. You have time to notice all the little details and absorb the magic.

Interesting. I found Btmrr and splash to be walk ons during my last two trips early in the morning.

I think this plan of paying for extra rides really only works for the rides that book up FP+ early. So it makes sense that they started with the most booked ride - 7dmt and the second Peter Pan.

I would think it would work for TSMM. But after that, I think this would be a tough sell. I can ride almost all other rides without a long wait at a normal rope drop without paying $70.00 extra dollars.

I guess we will see what happens with the Frozen ride at Epcot I imagine it will experience an intense case of the mob scene. And With tiers at Epcot, they could clean up if they offered a ride on all of the big three in the morning for $69.00.

And by the time Star Wars Land opens, everything will be ironed out to charge us whatever they want and we will line up and empty our wallets.

Think of the possibilities at Star Wars:
  • Appointment riding only with a $20.00 charge per ride.
  • Or $150.00 dining packages with 2 golden Fastpass ride coupons.
  • Or $69.00 extra charge throughout the day to enter the land for 90 minutes.
  • Or $179.00 for three hours exclusive evening hours Offered every night.
I see a slippery slope.

DH and I were talking about this, and we would have done the Early morning thing IF they offered a Mountain package.... While Pooh and PP are cute, they don't hold enough interest for us to ride over and over. If we could do 7DMT, Space, BTMRR (or even Splash but I don't think I want to start the day wet) that would be great fun for us and free up FP selections for the day...

Agree with you 100%! But it is a slippery slope. Why doesn't Disney just make everything a "special" ticket. Oh wait, they're getting pretty darn close to it now..,

I could see that too. But I think the problem is that those rides are all in different areas of the park. They also take a lot longer - even if there is no line for Space Mountain, it is a long walk in and a long walk out. If you only had an hour, you would spend a lot of that very expensive time walking.

That's true... I didn't think about the long walk in and out... BTMM, HM, and Pirates (could go with 7DMT) would even be a better choice for older riders.... although Pirates does have a long walk too....
