So between covid and technology wondering if working virtual is the new norm

So do you work from home hybrid or in person

I would consider my self hybrid because when I go to the gym I learn how to be a better trainer

I go to the office more tham most of my co-workers, but I work from home sometimes. I am staying home today because I banged my toe up pretty bad yesterday and don't want to put shoes on. It's pretty bruised, but I don't think it's broken. I really hope not at two weeks exactly until a Disney trip! Anyway, they are about to start requiring two days a week in the office, but that's totally fine with me.

I don’t work from home; nobody at my company does; we keep regular business hours at our office. But I and a few others have the ability to log in remotely and I do put in a few hours on evenings and weekends as I see fit. I monitor my phone calls and email at all times, although I only respond outside business hours if something is urgent.

So sorry to hear about your toe home you feel better soon

But that is why I like the hybrid I might be to sick to go out in public but well enough to work

So our company went from small separate groups of people having various WFH privileges to the entire company working hybrid 3 days in office, 2 days at home. That is now a company wide privilege for all employees. So COVID caused, what I would call, a massive change to our work environment.

I mostly work from home and I rarely go into the office. When I joined this company, everyone was already working from home the majority of the time. As long we get out work done, my boss doesn't care where we work from. I love the flexibility of being at home, especially avoiding the commute every day.

I work 2 days at home and in the office the other 3 days. I really only need to be in the office once or twice a week but my boss wants people back in the office. All my work is done through email so there really isn't any need for me to be onsite. Not going to complain, I'll take what I can get.

But by Commuting more times than you need to that is wasted time that can be used to Answer emails

I'm back in the office full time, but can work from home on occasion if I'm sick or if something comes up. I would love it if I could still WFH regularly.

Back in the office full time.
Did your office/branch of public service actually close during Covid? If so, were you set up to work from home or was everyone put on lay-off? We were deemed essential but to meet OH&S and provincial health occupancy/distancing mandates we had to reduce the workforce through lay-offs and go to rotating shifts. Those were dark days.

I telework once a week. I prefer to be in the office. I think "face time" is a really important factor when you're in a leadership role. I hope my staff feel better knowing I'm around most days.

Among my staff it varies, I have a few people that never telework because of either mental health issues or family life/drama. Others that telework anything from 1 - 4 days a week depending upon their role. And then one person who's temporarily approved for full telework due to health reasons.

In my senior leadership, some of the VPs are pro-telework (my VP is) and then others seem very anti-telework (the most influential VP). I understand where both of them are coming from, and think it's very dependent on your role.

My office has always been cool about working from home when needed. While we are goign back to two days in as a regular occurrence, they siad it's still fine if you have the cable guy copming or whatever. They won't bat an eye as long as you are mostly complying. Like today for my toe, that wouldn't even count, so it's no issue. They know I go in a lot of the time, so I;m covered.

Are you actually employed by the gym? You mentioned in the past that you make workout videos but aren't paid for them. Or do you just go into the gym when you want to, to "learn to be a better trainer"? Nothing, at all, wrong with that, but not really a hybrid work environment.
