I've heard third hand that the last performance of ToD will be on 2/28/03. Can anyone confirm/deny this date?

Someone on the Themeparks Attractions board posted that someone at WDW told them that it was hogwash and that ToD would continue to run for quite a while with no plans to stop or replace it.

I hope you're right, Tara8595! I love ToD (not as much as the original ToN, though), and hope that the end isn't anywhere near. Could you provide a link to that post?

Here you go. ;)

I really hope it continues too.

Ona ;)

That was me that posted. I talked to a nice CM at Disney who said there were no plans for it to end. It may be updated for the next celebration, but it was not ending.

I just asked a ToD CM, and he said that it us still only a rumor that it'll be ending on Feb. 28th. Disney hasn't told them anything about an ending date.

*Sigh* I wish Disney would make up their minds as to the future of this parade. Will or won't it end at the close of 100 YoM?

Here's what I hear....

Tapestry of Dreams isn't a big of a hit as Tapestry of Nations. ToN was the MSEP of Epcot. People flew down just to see that. ToD dosn't carry that over. Many are disapointed. Disney Management is. ToD cast is. Guests are. This is what I hear and this is all RUMOR.

I want ToN to come back for this summer, the millennium edition, not that 'we all can dream' poop. I want the great millennium walk and the reach for the stars... :D

Ditto, Testtrack321. I was one of the ones that flew down specifically to see ToN. Taking away the Sage of Time and replacing him with the three Dreakseekers was a big mistake.

Regardless, I hope Disney makes a decision soon as to the future of this parade.

I guess I'm the only one who likes ToD better. ToN didn't have any dialog and ToD makes a bigger emotional impact in my opinion. If you really listen to everything that is said in the soundtrack, it makes perfect sense, and when they get to the part about "Our favorite dreamer of all - Walt Disney... Walt DISNEY... WALT DISNEY!!!" I love that. And the part about "A world with no borders, a world with no fear" brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it. I love the dreams version and hope they keep it. At least for a while so I can see it a few more times.

Tara

I never saw ToN, but I absolutely love ToD. each times it is successful at bringing tears to my eyes.

I agree with you, Tara8595, ToD's dialouge is just incredible. However, I really miss the Sage of Time. I missed the last performance of ToN, and I really regret it, so I plan on being there for the last performance of ToD!

"All nations of the world dance
TOGETHER!"

"The gateway of time has opened, the spirt of humanity has brought us together, let us reach out and touch the stars as they light the way to tomorrow, and bring us hope.... for a better world!"

Those are some great ToN quotes. ToD is a great parade, but lacks in background naration, like the whole Sage Prologue.

Although I like ToD's narrations, I think ToN as a whole is a better parade. Here's to hoping that ToN makes a return!

ToN, imnsho, is the better parade. It's more coherent, and the Sage of Time is a better and more interesting character than the Dreamkeepers (seekers, weavers, little elf dudes). Also, the theme fits World Showcase much better - it is, after all, the Tapestry of Nations. I hope they restore it to its original, superior form.

Seems as tho' I'm always trying to "catch up" on threads lately.
If I may, I'd like to vote for bringing back Tapestry of Nations. It was one of the first parades I really watched and enjoyed at Disney World. Our sons were teenagers when we saw it and were totally impressed by the music and the characters.
We've seen TOD numerous times and I love the music -- even tho' I hate the interruptions and changes that were made, it's close to the original.
Does anyone know exactly when TOD took over? I've forgotten. Maybe changing back to Tapestry of Nations would be enough of a change to suit the people who are always looking for something to change ----- whether it needs it or not!
Anyway, I hope they don't eliminate it entirely. I'd rather watch TOD than neither one of them.
Sandy

Nations is much better. Dreams cut the best transition in the entire piece of music.

Nations fits the feel of Epcot much better, and flowed much better.

Bring it back. (or give us something else to WOW us...)

They went back to having 2 parade units, and one ran the Tapestry of Nations, and the other ran Tapestry of Dreams? Then you'd have a choice! And since I always try to do 2 days at Epcot anyway, I could see 'em both in one vacation.

Or they could rotate them every other day. Or the early one could be ToN and the late one ToD. There are just so many ways to accomodate everyone!

I don't remember the ToN parade dialogue and it's not on the Millenium CD. Maybe if I had a copy of the dialog and could listen to it like I can with ToD, I would feel differently about which was my favorite.

T.
