Tobacco Road Marathon/Half Cary (Raleigh), NC 03-21-2010

Raleigh will have a new marathon/half marathon this spring - March 21, 2010. The course is flat and promises to be flat, and is supposed to be a Boston qualifier. Most of the course for both the full and half will be run on the American Tobacco Trail, a rail trail in Wake County. Check out the link, and come join us!

Dang! That's the weekend before I do the 2010 Virginia Creeper Trail Marathon -- the race that I actually registered for BEFORE this year's race because it fills so quickly. (It's a beautiful trail, so I've heard -- and the you tube videos seem to prove that out -- and the race takes the fairly unconventional stance of having no t-shirt and no medal and a $10 entry fee. The premise: you're there for the run in the woods, not the crowds or the swag.) I may sign up for the half though. I hate to miss getting the inaugural medal -- and I love the ATT.

That's too funny. I was exploring the other night and just discovered the Virginia Creeper Trail Marathon and was all excited, until I discovered how quickly it filled! Figured that one wouldn't happen for me anytime soon, but didn't really process when it was since it was already full for next year. Then the next day we got the email about the Tobacco Road and I decided it was the next best thing.

That's cool. I've never been on the ATT. I've stayed away from the City of the Oaks because of the hills, plus this year it is the weekend before the OBX half and I'm doing that one... Will def have to check it out!

Come on down! This is probably as flat a course as you're going to get, unless you pick one of the coastal ones. Outer Banks is a great one, from what I hear, but I'm really excited about this one since it's new. We'd love to have a mini-WISH meet!

I don't think I will sign up for this one because I have 2 weddings coming up, but I promise to be there and Scream Team for everyone. (aww shucks, if i'm pretty well organized, maybe I will......!!!!!)

Stacy: I'll also be scream-teaming at OBX. My husband is going to attempt a marathon again and the 8-hr limit at OBX is a good fit for him. I won't be racing because I will be recovering from NYC, but I will be there with my WISH shirt.

Isn't it funny how just as soon as your muscles stop aching from marathon weekend you start thinking about running another race?
