toaster in room?

This is probably a silly question but are toasters allowed in your room? Just thought it would be a great way to same some money at breakfast time.

There are toasters in the food court area that you can use. It may be a great way to save money but many folks don't like the smell of food in the room or drifting into their room.

One time we brought the George Foreman lean mean grill machine to CBR and we didn't have any problems.

We used a toaster oven in one of our 2 connecting rooms @ Swan this March for breakfast hot pockets and pizza. I don't know how one distinguishes between the smell, if any, from that as opposed to freshly cooked room service grub.

I don't think room service delivers burnt toast. I don't understand if at the WDW resorts there are toasters in the food court for everyones use why not keep the smells and mess out of the room?

I think it is a bit of a safety hazard since toasters are open elements. At least, that's why we weren't allowed to have them in residence at university. Those and extention cords. If I were you, I would call and ask.

I can completely understand why you would want to use it in your room though. It's actually a good idea. Personally, I wouldn't want to take my own bread into the food court and toast it either. As far as the smell of toast, people will get over it if they have a problem. Be sure to ask the front desk first though.

I may be wrong but I didn't think heating elements of any kind used for cooking were allowed in Disney Resorts.

The last time we were in Disney (we stayed at CBR) I took a toaster and mousekeeping never said anything about it. I made sure it was clean and unplugged before we left the room. It worked out great and saved us alot of time in the morning.

I think we will probably take our chances and bring a small one. Being able to make toast and toaster waffles will save money and eliminate have to buy breakfast at all. If they say something, we will just not use it. Not a big deal.

They have coffee makers that they will give to you to use so isn't that kind of the same thing?

I was informed on my last visit to Disney that cooking in the rooms was not allowed due to insurance risks with open burners.
Having a coffee pot is not the same, as there is no open heating element as in a toaster. Also the fusing of the electrical wires is not heavy enough for the wattage used by a cooking utensil.
As for the smell of food after cooking, some following guest may have an adverse reaction due to alergies.
the smell of cooked food in rooms IMO is worse than the smell of tobacco.

AS for taking a toaster or waffle maker, sandwich maker: sure why not, rules are for someone else.

There is no cooking allowed in the rooms (unless you're at a DVC resort or cabin with a kitchen). It's a fire hazard, and Disney's insurance does not allow it.

that makes sense about the difference in the coffee makers and toasters etc.. I should have thought about that.
I don't think the OP was trying to break any rules, but just wanting to know if they were allowed.

The question is...is a piece of toast worth the risk??? (Odors, a small fire, possible embarrassment, etc.)

Probably not...c'mon people...

I understand if you want to save money by eating breakfast in the room...but why would you want to take your toaster on vacation???...

Cereal and milk could do the trick...or even untoasted bread...Heck...most of the hotels are now even providing the fridge...

I've never seen so much hoopla over a toaster! The one-bedroom villas we stay in have toasters! I think the DVC studios do too. So, it must not be the safety hazard some people are trying to make it out to be. Nor is it the food smell drifting problem people seem to think it is. And don't get into the connecting room issue. There are connecting rooms at the villas well. I have numerous allergies, including cigarette smoke, but allergic to toast? Come on. Really!
