Is the Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe and the Banana stuffed toast at Boatwrights the same thing?

I do not think so? Read the menus on www.allearsnet.com I have had Tonga Toast & what they have at Boatwrights does not sound the same at all.

Is there anyone who has actually had the toast at Boatwrights that can describe what they actually got?

It's been a while. But I remember it as two pieces of really thick fluffy white bread French toast style with a banana type filling inbetween. I do remember that it was good, but way too sweet and too much to eat.

Sorry I couldn't be more specific.

Does this description from the Kona Cafe menu describe what yo had a Boatwrights?

Tonga Toast - banana stuffed sourdough bread, rolled in cinnamon sugar

I really wanted to try the Tonga Toast on this trip but trying to work out how to get to the Polynesian to try it during breakfast is getting tricky. We are staying at the POFQ so going to Boatwrights would be much easier. That's why I'm trying to find out if it is the same.

It definitely wasn't sourdough bread. It was big fluffy thick white bread that was cooked French Toast style. I don't remember any cinnamon sugar. But there was a sauce, I think it was something like strawberries.

Getting over to POR from POFQ is easy....You just walk down the path. But as far as POR to Poly, it's a little harder. We had to do this when we were at POR for Easter Breakfast at Ohana's. We took the bus to MK and then took the Monorail. Let's just say we were late to our PS. But that's just because we really didn't plan our travel time out too well.

Either way, I'm sure you'll have a nice breakfast.

We have had the toast at both Kona & Boatwrights and much prefered Kona's Tonga Toast. We always go to Kona's at least a couple of times on every trip. It is very easy to get to. Just take a bus from your resort to the MK and then a boat or the monarail to the Poly. We can't wait to have our Tonga Toast in December.

P.S. We love the sweet potato pancakes at Boatwrights.

We just returned and on this trip, I tried both the Banana Stuffed French Toast (BSFT) from Boatwright's and the Tonga Toast (TT) from Kona Cafe. The differences are as follows:

1. The BSFT is two slices of french toast folded on the diagonal with a banana in the middle. The TT is two slices prepared sandwich style with the banana in between. So, with BSFT you get two items on your plate and with TT there is only one.

2. The BSFT comes with this strawberry-banana sauce on the side. The TT does not.

3. They are described as different types of bread. BSFT is Texas Toast while TT is sourdough bread. This didn't make a difference in the taste.

Bottom line: If you've had one, you don't need to have the other. If you're dying for TT but are having trouble trying to get to the Polynesian, go to Boatwright's at POR. It may be easier and is just as yummy.

we had the banana toast at boatwrights in june

we stayed at POFQ...you can walk to boatwrights in less than 10 minutes....the toast was AWESOME.....as was the strawberry sauce it comes with

the only thing I noted is that next time, my wife and I will share a plate...it was alot of food

I cannot remember if it had cinnamon sugar...for some reason...I want to say it DID

They were both way too sweet for me to eat, but other than that, I can't remember the difference.

I must be a pig. I at all of both my Banana Stuffed French Toast and my Tonga Toast. Yummy!
