We just returned and on this trip, I tried both the Banana Stuffed French Toast (BSFT) from Boatwright's and the Tonga Toast (TT) from Kona Cafe. The differences are as follows:
1. The BSFT is two slices of french toast folded on the diagonal with a banana in the middle. The TT is two slices prepared sandwich style with the banana in between. So, with BSFT you get two items on your plate and with TT there is only one.
2. The BSFT comes with this strawberry-banana sauce on the side. The TT does not.
3. They are described as different types of bread. BSFT is Texas Toast while TT is sourdough bread. This didn't make a difference in the taste.
Bottom line: If you've had one, you don't need to have the other. If you're dying for TT but are having trouble trying to get to the Polynesian, go to Boatwright's at POR. It may be easier and is just as yummy.
