Do you tip mousekeeping??? If you do how much per day???

At Least $1.00 per person per day!! Do it daily as sometimes your Mousekeeper changes. Since there are 4 of us, I usually leave 4 or 5 dollars in a specially marked envelope each day.

$1 or $2 per person, depending upon how messy the room is and if they have been leaving any towel dolls.

We leave about $3-4 per day, depending on how messy we made the room. Sometimes my toddler has a snack and gets it all over the floor so we add an extra dollar for things like that.

Now, it's only DD-15 and I in the room, but we still leave $3-$4 per night.

$5 a day. We are really neat and there are only 3 of us, but we don't think that amount is outrageous. Usually people do $1 a day, per person in the room.

No I don't tip mousekeeping! Well not anymore, I have in the past, but I always clean the room, make the beds and empty the trash as I have had clothes and toys get tangled in sheets and the like and then lost them so I do most of the work myself.

Also on that note, I have never had anything above and beyond house/mouse keeping do more than straighten the room and leave new supplies and I feel that tipping is for something above and beyond what is required by your job description.

We have tipped $1.00 per day/per person.

Does anyone leave a different mousekeeping tip amount depending on the Resort?

I leave $5 a day in an envelope on a pillow before we leave in the morning - that is for 2 extremely neat and clean people! At the GF I also left $5 in an envelope on a pillow each afternoon for our night time turn down mousekeeper. Now I wonder if that was too much because the a.m. mousekeeper does so much more! At the GF beds are changed each day and everything is really left beautifully...whereas nightime is turn down with chocolates, tv turned on and towels, shampoo etc freshened.

I did not leave less in the a.m. at a value or moderate, but sheets were not changed everyday...I felt bad requesting clean linen, but will next time I stay there. BTW, at POP - room was not vacuumed during our stay at all. Has this happened to anyone else?

When traveling with children I leave $1 per person, not less than $5.

I don't tip unless they do an incredible job. Tipping has far gotten out of hand. You don't tip just because someone does something for you. Tips are for those who have gone out of their way to make your stay pleasant.

Maybe if my housekeeper makes those little hearts out of the towels and lays them on the bed that I heard about on another thread (we are staying for our honeymoon) I will tip. Otherwise, she's doing the job she was paid for.

People have to prove they deserve a tip before I give them one. Doing the job you were hired for is not enough.

Ahhhh, this thread has been a bit touchy before...actually, tipping is part of the income of housekeeping and is much appreciated. I called to check before I left home this time due to a previous thread on this board.

True enough, tipping as a custom has been for service rendered -but in a hotel one may not have the same housekeeper each day.

If I found my room not clean enough or no nice touches (which are not required, as we all know), I am not sure what I might do...maybe call housekeeping to find out if the same housekeeper would be on during my entire stay and then not leave a tip until the room was better.

We've never received cute towel shapes at the POP, POFQ, AKL or any resort, and I've heard so many nice stories about cute animal towels even for adults, but I would not withhold a tip because of that.

Has anyone experienced animal towels at a deluxe?

Our room was vacuumed at Pop, but then we have the aforementioned toddler so it needed it. We did get towel animals (ducks), and they propped my sister's large stuffed frog onto a pillow, facing the tv, with the remote control between his crossed front paws. Very cute!

$1.00 per person per day, minimum. Like servers, hair stylists, etc. it's part of the housekeepers' income, like it or not. I wish EVERYBODY received a decent salary but since they don't, I tip as appropriate.

Disney doesn't list housekeeping as a "tipped" position. They are paid enough so that tipping is truly optional. I usually tip a few dollars a day, particularly if I ask for extra towels.

Positions like waiter, bellhop and valet are "tipped" positions. The employer is allowed to pay them less than minimum wage because their primary source of compensation is tips. People who don't normally tip within the guidelines are expecting people to work for free.

Disney gives you a resort brochure. It gives you tipping guidelines. You should be tipping at the high end of the range for exceptional service and and the low end of the range for normal service.

If service is so poor as to justify no tip or a low tip I'll also complain to management. I want the restaurant to understand the waiter gave me horrible service and I want the waiter to understand the poor tip was given for a reason.

I'm not sure where you got your information from, but housekeeping is not a tipped position.

I called GF Housekeeping supervisor before I left home. It is not considered an official "tipped position" but tips are "much appreciated". Think my wording was misleading. Sorry!

my hairstylist is 3 years out of school and makes $80,000 a year with salary and tips!!

A Nurse and Teacher do not make that much money!!!

And thank goodness I live in a country that will allow me to find another job if the one I am working at does not pay me the wage to buy/support the things I need!
