To those who have not returned yet - what will get you back?

We won't be going back without being fully vaccinated first. We won't risk catching the virus. Even if we ended up being fine, I'd hate to think we might inadvertently pass it on to others. But once we're vaccinated we are looking forward to getting back out in the world.

Beyond the vaccine, we'd like to see fast passes return. We might go back this coming May, staying offsite, since there seems to be less and less incentive to stay onsite any longer. Actually, I haven't been keeping up all that well- are fast passes definitely coming back at some point or is that still up in the air?

I'm Canadian so things are a bit more challenging for us now. Our Prime Minister has asked that no-one travel for non essential reasons. Combine that with needing to test negative before flying, then quarantining in the US for 7 days before going to Disney, then doing my Disney trip, testing again before being able to fly home, then having to quarantine for 14 days when you arrive back in Canada. It's a lot....essentially you have to have a month off work for an one week trip.

So long story short, I will travel when I am fully vaccinated and our travel restrictions have eased.

I have an August trip and December trip booked but no idea if either will happen. Time will tell. :)

We really didn’t plan on going back for a while. So many restaurants we enjoy are closed, no fireworks, no characters, and no fastpasses make it hard to justify the cost for us personally right now. That being said my dad offered to take us and pay for everything so we’ll be going in two weeks. I’ll wear the mask and wave at the characters from a far for a free trip 🙃 We’ll save up until things get back to normal and hopefully be able to treat him in return by then.

I’ll go back when.........

the border opens (we drive).
masks are not required.
travel restrictions are lifted.
we’re vaccinated.

I’m not bothered so much about no fireworks, shows or eateries being available. I do hope fp comes back in some form and park hours are extended. I don’t mind crowds.

We are going this summer. What I'd like to see...

1. DH and I will be vaccinated.
2. Jambo restaurants/store open (we are staying there).

The current restrictions don't bother me (no fireworks, etc.). I'd love to not have to wear a mask, but if that's the requirement I'm ok with it.

We won’t be back until all of the following*:
1. Mask requirement is lifted
2. Fireworks
3. Parades
4. Character meet and greets
5. Return of fast pass
6. Longer park hours
7. Return of shows
*I have no idea when (or if) these will all come back. If WDW decides to stick with what’s going on now as some kind of new normal we will continue to vacation elsewhere.

Wow! OP, I could have written the same exact post, down to the cancelled 10-day May trip, cancelled another trip for holiday 2020, hate that fast passes, EMH and DME are now gone, magic is gone, might switch to Universal (will also be our second trip), waiting for vaccines and the same way that we traveled to Disney before! I even made a reservation for Disney this June and can't get excited about it. I will probably cancel it. I used to love watching youtube videos of travelers going to Disney. Now it just makes me sad to watch them :-(

Oh, for us (if we were vaccinated), number 1 issue with Disney is no fast passes (no way we will wait in line), then park hours, then DME. I can live without fireworks, parades, and less restaurants.

I have to take a cross-country plane trip to go to WDW, and right now I don‘t think it is worth it to fly. If I lived near Orlando and had an annual pass, I would not mind spending a few hours occasionally in the parks, even with masks and such, just to appreciate a place I‘m fond of. I would want to be there during hours when the parks were uncrowned. I‘d feel similarly about Disneyland. That said, I would not pay full price at this time for tickets.

The uncrowded part is an important trade-off. The idea of trying to social distance, wearing masks in the heat, while dodging throngs of guests and STILL having to wait in long lines. That does not sound like much fun. The motivation to go now would be gone unless the parks are peaceful, with lots of fresh air and space, and short wait times.

We won't be back until we are fully vaccinated at the very least. My husband is not interested as long as he must wear a mask in addition.

I’m Australian and our borders are closed with limited exceptions to be granted travel permits. On top of that I have to wait until it’s possible to get good travel insurance again. I don’t want to risk being bankrupted by the American health system from getting sick or injured while travelling! Add to that I have DVC so need all that to be fixed and then allow a DVC booking window of 7-11 months. Luckily after trips in 2018 and 2019 I wasn’t planning to go to WDW until 2022. Now I think it will be more likely early 2023.

I find it sad but I’m grateful for a lot at the moment knowing that I’m in a much better place than many (no job loss, limited community transmission in Australia meaning it’s pretty safe to do a lot of things others internationally can’t). When I finally make it back it will be all the more special and Disney should have had enough time to get itself sorted out and back to whatever normal looks like.

I could care less about Guardians of the Galaxy and I’ve been on Ratatouille in Paris and Tron in Shanghai. I don’t think I’ll come back until after the anniversary celebrations. Things should be back to normal by then.

My big decision at the moment is HHN 30 in the fall. I will probably go, but am waiting to see how many people are vaccinated by then and what the experience will be like.

1) Return of Fastpass, or a system similar to it
2) Return of fireworks and nightly shows
3) Longer hours return.
4) Canadian land border opens (we drive and as a large family cannot afford to fly)
5) Removal of Quarantine requirements in both countries.

We are planning to return in March, 2022, and I thought for sure the above criteria would be met by then. But, things keep dragging on and on. Now I'm not so sure :(

We would return tomorrow if the following returned:
1. Annual Passes
2. Fast Pass
3. Fireworks
4. Longer park hours

Longer term though, all things will need to return to normal (shows, entertainment, parades, etc.)
