I am just curious what happens when there are TWO children, and infant newborn and a toddler?

My DH's cousin and his wife practice Attatchment Parenting and have a Family Bed. They have a 1 year old son, and are expecting their second baby in a couple of months.

They didn't use one of those things that attatches to one side of the bed like a bassinet, and probably won't for the new baby. They believe bodies should touch. That's fine. I can totally understand 3 people in a bed.

But how do you fit in four? How to you prevent the toddler from crushing the newborn? How do two adults and TWO growing children fit in a bed comfortably?

Well, DH and I have a European sized Queen bed, which is smaller then a US queen and we quite often have 2 kids with us. Sure, it doesn´t exactly feel like we´re floating around in space, but we do survive ;)

My first question is how did they get a #2 on the way with #1 in the bed? ;)

I wouldn't say we had a family bed but quite often the kids would join us during the night. When Danny was a baby he would sleep in the middle and John would choose whose side he would want to sleep on. Lucky for me he is a Daddy's boy and always choose his Dad. Sometimes Tim would go sleep in John's bed.

We have a queen size bed and had a small portable bed for Danny.
