To those recently back from Orlando: how long did it take to get through security?

We are going to be flying out of MCO in a couple weeks, and I wondered how long I should budget to get through security at MCO. Does anybody have recent experience and care to share?

Thanks in advance!!

I think it really depends on the day and time that you'll be traveling. It took us longer to check our bags than it did to go through security this past Saturday. We were through security gates 60-129 at 9:00am with less than a two minute wait. There was just a single mom with a baby and stroller in front of us. Very easy and very quick.

The airport has taken appropriate measures to get you through security rather quickly. There is a thread on Disboards which explain the new procedure.

I flew out of there on 9/1 and the line at around 3:30 looked to be about 15 minutes. Yesterday at 1:30 it looked to be about five minutes.

That said, on 9/1 the line at the counters to check bags looked out of control--I think the biggest issue was people with overweight luggage, I saw at least four parties trying to juggle stuff between suitcases and generally holding things up. Ugh. It took me over ten minutes to check my bag--in the elite line for US Airways. There were also weather related delays and they were trying to rebook people.

I forgot who it was, but one of the other domestic carriers had an even longer line, I remember thinking "Thank God I'm not flying them."

We are just back from Orlando yesterday. It took us about 25 minutes to check our bags (and we used curb side!), and all of 10 minutes to get through security.

Aren't we on the DISboards? Sorry, which thread on the Disboards?

Just came back yesterday, it took us 10 minutes to check in for Southwest, one bag was 1.5 lbs over the weight limit but they 'just let it go'. Security line took about 5 minutes (this was around 4pm), and that was due to me buying a whole bunch of stuff at the Earport and then having to juggle 2 Disney bags, 2 carryons, 2 children and one stroller. It was a breeze.

Yesterday at MCO--no line where we went through. We had the line and 5 screeners to ourselves. Funny thing is that there was a line on the other side of the airport, going to the same gates! Look around when you are there, there might be shorter lines just down the way that lead to the same gates.

I also left Orlando on 09/01. I had just walked through the xray scan, with my son behind me, when something happened? and the a large number of security workers formed a line blocking any entrance to the gates. This happened at appx. 12:20PM - with in minutes quite a few orlando police showed up. Watching this from such a close distance was quite alarming.
I later heard it was a "security breach".
Poor people standing in line, outside the security entrance were probably wondering what the hold up was. Needless to say many of us missed our flights due to the delay + storms.
I would expect a very short time to get through security under normal circumstances. And am thankful the american security is working so hard at protecting us.

We flew Southwest on Sunday 9/10. We stayed at the Hyatt at the airport. It took 15 mins to check-in 1 piece of luggage. two computers were down. Security check was also 15/20 mins. I always say, expect the unexpected.

We left on 8/22 and checked our luggage at the hotel in the morning. We went through security around 4:30 -5:00 and there were two TSA people looking very closely at our ID's. Once we got past them it was very quick, maybe ten minutes tops.
