To those of you with hardwood floors...?

How often do you move large furniture to clean your floors?

The reason I ask is that this is all new to me. We've always had carpet, and now we have a house with hardwood in every room! We literally JUST put up our master bedroom bed earlier this month, and before doing so I cleaned the floors. Last night I looked under the bed and at the dust bunnies. Perhaps we need a rug!

I don't even want to look under the couch!

We have hardwood floors in virtually every room as well and the dust bunnies rule. I don't think there is really anything you can do about it. Invest in a duster that has a long handle so that you can get under large furniture items occassionally. A rug is not going to stop the dustbunnies, just accumulate them. If you hear of a solution, please post...

Vacuum and then swiffer under all your furniture. Also, I invested in those "sliders" that you can buy at Bed Bath and Beyond. I put them under all my furniture that is placed on hard wood (all 4 bedrooms and family room) and it makes moving the furniture a piece of cake!

But be careful about the Swiffers because not all floors can handle them.

We have a cannister vac and I can pretty much reach beneath all the furniture with it. If you don't have one you may want to get one, it works better than anything else on the hardwood floors. Love my Kenmore!!!

I very seldom move large furniture to wash the floors. I will vacuum under large furniture.

But be careful about the Swiffers because not all floors can handle them.

Really? I have yet to meet a wood floor that can't handle a dry swiffer sheet. Isn't that pretty much just dusting?

Just think, all that dust was hiding in your carpets! I installed hardwood in our whole downstairs and they are wonderful, but you are right, we are cleaning every other day.

I kid you not, one time my mom opened her doors then got out her leaf blower inside the house. And she is a super crazy clean mom of German descent.

I have a dust mop that I run under things regularly. OR-I suck up the dust with the vacum attachments.
