What was the best memory of your Wedding Day?

Let's get those tears flowing today!! :rotfl2:

I have 3...

I had a Horse and Carriage, and when it was arriving, my little neice (luckily) looked out the door and saw it trotting up the road so she yelled...'Auntie Karen - it's here!' and we all ran (as fast as you can in a wedding dress and heels!!) to the front door and piled out onto the driveway and looked up to see 2 beautiful white horses trotting up the road pulling a wonderful open topped Navy blue carriage, with the father and daughter who own the company all dressed up in top hats and tails.
It made me and my Mum cry but we had to stop ourselves as it was time to leave!!

My 2nd happiest memory is after the service, we took to Horse and Carriage to the reception hall, and decided (on the spur of the moment) to take our page boy with us in the carriage.
He was over the moon with this, and helped us drink our champagne (!).
But it was like he knew that although we had invited him, we still wanted those precious few minutes together to talk about the wedding as we hadn't seen each other alone all day, so he just sat, holding my bouquet for me, waving to everyone (we trotted up through my local high street so there was lots of people). He was so well behaved and wonderful - it still makes me cry when I think about it!
We also had 4 spots of rain (the carriage roof was down!) but I prayed that it wouldn't start raining and it stopped as soon as it started so we were very lucky, and the rest of the day was beautiful sunshine.

My 3rd happiest memory was our final dance.
We had the Grease megamix.
My DH got all our guests up and they formed a big circle around us and they were all clapping and dancing, and me and DH stood in the middle of the circle, and then we sang (not out loud!) to Summer Nights.
We sang a line each (you know - the Sandy & Danny bits) and some of our guests did the Pink Ladies and T-Birds bits, and then we did the famous - 'those su-ummmmmmmer niiiiiiggggghhhhtttttsssss' bit and had the most humungous cuddle, and then I had a little tear as it was all over.

Ah - it was fab.

Who's next...???

WOW, there are so many!

The first one must be standing at the end of the isle with my dad,
( blubbing! ) and seeing Simon with tears in his eyes.

The best one at the reception was at the end of the night, where the DJ played lots of irish songs. All my family had come over from Northern Ireland (my mum's five brother's and families) and absolutely everyone in the place was dancing and clapping. It was fantastic! The workers at the venue thought we were all mad I think!!!

I actually have three, although the whole day was one big bubble of happiness as I'd waited so long. Mine are from our vow renewals, rather than actual wedding day (we had 2 weddings :thumbsup2 )

First - although it was before the big day, I still remember now the sheer feeling of elation when I got my wedding dress. The shop I had bought it from went into receivership 4 weeks before the vow renewal ceremony and the owner did a bunk with loads of the stock and all the money. The receivers had to sort through the stock that was left and, luckily, my dress was still there. I had to provide the receipt as proof but I'll never forget how happy I was when I went down to collect my dress. It was in the local papers in Bath and everything :)

Second - walking into the ceremony room with my Dad and seeing DH standing there with tears rolling down his face (I had NEVER seen him cry before that day - in 7 years!!!)

Third - the way that everyone pulled together when there was a power cut that evening. My Dad (bless him) borrowed a generator from his local pub, people who lived locally went home and got loads of candles. The place looked so romantic with candles everywhere and all our guests said it was the best wedding they'd been to :)

Overall, though, it was a fantastic day. Wish I could do it all over again - maybe one day at Disney ;)

Now you have started something here......

Fantastic Day i must say but these are the things that jump to mind:

Not liking our wedding song but having to lose on that, it was Love is all around by some annoying band. I wanted Loving You by Minnie Riperton, beautiful song.

Hand was shaking so much that i couldnt put the ring on and getting a line wrong to look up and see almost disgust on the vicars face..

Being that nervous i couldnt eat our meal.

Getting unbelievably drunk and necking Moet till 3 in the morning (bought by my friends)

At the end of the night thinking "What happened?"

Coming out of the church to a Sea cadet Salute which had my wife in tears (She was an officer at the time)

Playing games with my toddler nephew with him putting his finger in my mouth outside the church, got the timng wrong through nervousness and nearly took his finger off.

We had a ball at our wedding. Even today when we talk with family and friends they say what a great day it was. We didn't have a big budget so I hired my dress, I'm not overly sentimental, so I'm glad we didn't go to any great expense on the dress. We told our families that our 'big day' was for our friends and close family, as we couldn't afford for aunts and uncles that we hadn't seen in years (and still haven't) to come. Our wedding was at the end of October, but it was a crisp sunny day and I couldn't get out of the wedding car because my legs were shaking too much with nerves. When I said 'I do' it came out like a squeak, so hubby-to-be burst out laughing. Hubby and I got incredibly drunk in the afternoon, and when someone commented that the disco hadn't arrived for the evening 'do', I couldn't of given a monkey's, the best part of the day was being with our close friends and family between the main reception 'do' and the evening 'do'. Mind you it was a laugh watching some of the oldies at the evening 'do' dancing to Acid/House music :rotfl:

My memory is about our page boys.
The eldest child decided he didn't want to be a page boy so his Auntie told him that she would take him to Toys R Us as a treat after the wedding. We were sat in the pew on the day with the two boys next to me and I could see them wispering to each other. I asked them what they were saying and the eldest said 'we're going to Toys R Us after this'. I don't think he realised that she didn't mean straight after the wedding :rotfl2:
The youngest of the brothers was too young to be a page boy but he got dressed up in a little suit (so cute) and we have a picture of him with a sausage roll in his hand and his other hand in his pocket. He looked like a mini Winston Churchill but without the cigar :teeth:
I don't know about anyone else but I felt like I'd got amnesia, I couldn't remember much about the day but then bit's came back to me (I don't drink either).

My experience was similair to Johs', we turned up at the reception venue to find the hotel had gone bankrupt and was shut!!! The receivers let us in and within a few minutes my brother had made phone calls and we had an absolute army of friends turn up to do the waitressing, cooking, disco, bar etc, it was amazing, we hadn't planned a big reception so couldn't afford to invite all those people but they all pulled together marvellously. It was hilarious.

No so much a best memory but me trying so hard to stop myself crying that i completely forgot what i was mean't to be saying and asking for it to be repeted.

I have NEVER been so nervous in my life and the registra must have been able to see that and wispered that it was nearly over. :rotfl:

My brother getting up to sing at our reception ,then him dancing to "cha, cha slide" :rotfl:

I am now planning my 2nd wedding, a smaller event than the first. We are hoping to get married in Lake Bled, Slovenia. I have been there before but I don't know much about organising a wedding abroad. Any help would be grately appreciated :wave2:
We would love to have some wonderful memories like the ones posted on here :teeth:

my favorite memory (and I have lots of them) had to be afterwards. We had an 11am ceremony and the reception ended somewhere around 5 or 6. We went back to my parents house for an hour or so with our immediate families and closest friends...just a handful of people. We opened the few gifts brought and the many envelopes then left for our hotel. As we were leaving, everyone surprised us by throwing handfuls of rice. We hadn't expected it at all...had decided against the birdseed stuff usually thrown after the church. It was really funny and very sweet. And I was picking rice out of my hair for days. lol. okay, maybe not, but I was surprised at where that rice got to. :)

Oh I have a few too :)

My Mum didn't speak to me much for a year before the wedding as she wasn't happy about us getting married in a church :confused3 , so she wasn't involved at all. At one point I didn't even think she'd come. Then when I arrived at the altar, I turned round to see her sitting in the front row smiling and crying her eyes out. :lovestruc

I remember my dad got up and sang a song as part of his Father-of-the-bride speech, we all nearly died of embarrassment, even though it was quite funny. He sang Abba's Super Trouper but changed the words to Super Cooper (my husband's name) :rolleyes1

And I remember arriving at the hotel where we were staying after the reception, and the sheer relief it was all over. and I could take my dress off and breathe once again!

We got married in August last year and the highlights were wearing my New Rock Boots, the BIG stretch hummer that took us to the church and to the reception, walking down the aisle with my dad with my DD behind me not being impressed about not being able to hold my hand, my DH trying not to cry when saying his vows, the bubbles that our guests blew as we left the church, drinking a bottle of Asti is the hummer from the church to reception and then trying to get out of the hummer looking cool whilst feeling very tipsy :rotfl: The speeches were fab and the day passed so quickly. It was great to have family and friends enjoying themselves as much as us.

Me Too

One thing I do rember it just went so fast
and my face was sore with all the smiling

OK I am so common and this is going to proove it!!

On a sentimental basis...I lost 5 stone for my wedding and my mum made an unexpected visit to the hairdressers as I was just paying after having my hair done and the veil pinned in place.....we both cried and hugged for ages (a mum & daughter time!!)...The whole hairdressers was wailing!!

On a laughter issue there is 2 things........I 'begged' my new husband to let me go to the night club with my mates after our reception finished...he had to call my mum & dad for 'back up' who told me I was not allowed!!
Also 'the time of the month' appeared as we entered the honeymoon suite...so I went to sleep!! (we had been living together for 7 years though!! :rotfl2: )

The funniest moment for me was the following day, checking into the hotel in Tenerife - yes, I KNOW Tenerife - but it WAS 28 years ago and December! - when I signed the registration document with my maiden name and then wailed "oh no, I've signed the wrong name"

Everyone laughed, they took back the key they'd given us and gave us a beautiful, seafront upgraded room with an enormous kingsize bed!
