Just an FYI, I was told by the boat driver from POFQ to DTD Sat that the treehouse villas are opening up next month to house Disney's advanced study college students. It was nice to see people out there actually cleaning things up a bit and getting them ready. :flower:

While that could very well be happening, boat captains haven't always given out the most correct information. :teeth: Thanks for posting, though. Maybe it will indeed happen. :cool1:

True, but, I hope it is! It came about as someone asked because we could see all the people cleaning the villas and moving stuff in and around the villas and storage units underneath. I just hated to see it so run down and deserted. It was really looking good!

If this is true, it makes me very happy! :) :)

I was very sad to see them "ghost-like" on our June trip. I remember in 1996 boating past happily families staying in them. It was very sad to see them sitting unused and damaged from Ivan and Frances.

I was wondering why there was so much activity going on over there two weeks ago. Great to know! I guess time will tell if the driver was right...

I have been told more than once that yes they do use the treehouses from time to time to house college program kids, or overflow cast members for training purposes.

So if this is true, this isn't the first time that this has happened.

WE were told similar things on our 10/04 trip. A few of the boat captian said that they are often used for the college program, but had been evacuated due to the hurricanes last year. They said that they can no longer rent then to guests because they're caught between the American w/disabilities act (not ADA accessable) and a federal laws protecting marsh lands (preventing them from making the tree houses ADA accessable).

My husband will be happy to know they are back in business. His family used to stay there each year when he was growing up.
