who didn't think it necessary to put their cart back in the corral, when we have been having 30-40 mph wind gusts for the last 24 hours, may I just say "thank you" for the 2 inch long 1/4 inch deep crease your cart put in my bumper this afternoon!!!

I know this is trivial, but it really ticks me off. My car is only 3 months old, and since bumpers are not made of metal, this large crease is not removable. I know there was a thread about this a few weeks ago, so I thought this was interesting timing.

That stinks. I was in Target today and walked a long distance to put the cart back. People are just plain lazy.

This is one of my hugest pet peeves! I don't know about your Target, but ours has two cart returns in each parking row, one near the front of the row and one near the end. Any parking spot is withing 8 spaces of a cart return. Why can't people put them away?!!! The thing that ticks me off the most is when I see younger people with no kids and no disability unload their bags into their cars and just leave the cart! That's just plain laziness, IMO. I've got three kids(7, 3 1/2 and 11 months) and I can still manage to put the cart away if I have one or all of them with me.
Not all stores do this, but a couple of the grocery stores in our town will help you take your groceries out to your car if you need help. I've actually done this a couple times when hugely pregnant, LOL! Then they take the cart back and you don't have to worry about it. I'm sure many stores would help if someone needed it. All you have to do is ask!! The worst they can do is say no.

I would have been mad too. This is also one of my hugest pet peeves!!! I always take my cart back. My family knows not to leave theirs either.. Some people

Oh no! I would be mad, too. That really sucks.

Grrr! I hate that too. I also hate the people who don't know how to park in parking lots and put little dents in my doors when they open them!

I would be mad too. It doesn't take too much time to put the cart in the cart return or for that matter to take it back to the store.

Maybe the person was having a hard time walking, especially in those winds and could barely make it to the car WITH the use of a cart, let alone put the cart back.

I'm sorry for the scratch but it's just a car.

And here we go again with this stupid debate.......

It may seem superficial to some but I know that I work really hard for my money and I don't want something like that putting a nasty scratch in my bumper. Most insurance companies have a $500 deductible and to repair the bumper would probably cost $501 you know...so the ins company would only have to pay $1 of the damages?

to the poster above me...you're right, it's just a car...but let people vent...at least she didn't push the cart into someone else's car out of anger...it could have been yours!

everybody smile! :sunny:

sunkissed - OP can vent all they want but don't blame the person who left the cart. You don't know their personal circumstances.
After what I've been through the last 6 months, pushing the cart to the corral or my car getting dented is the least of my concerns.

You're right...I don't know their circumstances...but blaming the person who left the cart is the only person to blame...if the cart were put back where it belonged, she wouldn't have a dent in her bumper.

okay, I'm finished....I don't want to create any animosity with so few posts...just tossing around my $0.02

Doesn't that make you so mad??? About a month ago someone apparently didn't know how to drive an SUV and left a nice big dent in my passenger door. Unfortunately since I didn't see it happen (but it wasn't there before) and did not know the dent was there until the next day I couldn't say anything to the person. I am going to try and have it removed. Mine really doesn't have a crease, more like it is just pushed in but it is BIG. It bugs me.

So sorry to hear that someones inconsiderate behavior caused damage to your car...

Target here at home just re designed their parking lot after updating their store. They put in 6 handicap parking places all in one row. I thanked them. The handi places used to always be FULL of the empty carts people did not want to push back to the cart corral.... :( People were really grouchy when I NICELY asked them not to put their empty carts in that space because it made it very difficult for me to park, get in or out of the van, or utilize my w/c due to lack of space.

Just for the record, I always park my car far out in the parking lot and walk (to avoid the dents in my door that someone else mentioned). There were not a lot of cars in the parking lot, and the way the wind was blowing, it had to have come from far out in the parking lot, so I don't think it was someone that would have a hard time walking that would park that far out. And no, I did not push the cart into anyone elses car, I put it in the corral with mine, so it would blow into someone else's car :D .

Well, that didn't post right, it is supposed to say NOT blow into someone elses car.

What a bummer, Erika, no good excuse for such lack of common courtesies. Some people think the world revolves around them, with lack of regard for those around them. And Joan, even though you are nice to people, some are just not so nice, regardless how you try. Such is life, some folks are so self-centered in their thinking they do not realize those around them.

Hope you get the dent taken care of, Erika, and not too costly.

Regardless of someone's "personal circumstances", he/she should find a way to get the cart back to the corral or to the store. That's no excuse to just leave it in the parking lot, taking a chance on damaging someone else's property.

Elgerber, I was at Target today, too, and found a cart just sitting between two cars. I snatched it up and took it into the store with me. It amazes me that some people can just leave a cart, when there's a corral just 20 ft away. You might want to talk with the store manager. I used to work at a grocery store that had "no liablility" signs posted regarding cart damage. I was told that the store is responsible for damage because the carts are their property and they're responsible for collecting them. Could have been a rumor, but it might be worth looking into.

So sorry to hear about your car. I would be furious. I always take my cart back. I hate it when others don't Interestingly enough, in Missouri, you had to take your own groceries and such to the car. In Florida, they take your groceries out and put them in your car for you. Then they take the cart back into the store. They won't accept tips either.
