To switch or not to switch....

Should I switch or stay put?

  • Stay one night at Pop Century, switch for 5 nights at BWV and use extra $$ for La Nouba!

  • Don't switch, relax and catch La Nouba on the next trip!

 that is the dilemma....

Must decide by 1/15! :headache:

We arrive 3/6, but our studio reservation for BWV doesn't begin until 3/7 (renting points). I have a courtesy hold on a 1-night stay for the same room type/resort through CRO for the 6th in the amount of $288.80. This brings the average cost for the entire 6-night stay to an incredible $136.80/night! (Not bad for a deluxe/home-away-from home during peak season.) However, I could book Pop-Century for $88.10 for the night of the 6th and use the extra $200 for Cirque or something else special that we've never done before.

Even though we've never actually experienced a resort switch, my husband and I have always agreed in the past that just the very thought of having to move out after only one night is a MAJOR turn off. This trip, however, is a surprise for both DH and DD, so I cannot ask his opinion. (Hence the reason I'm coming to you guys with this dilemma.)

TIA!!!!!!

If your husband feels that switching is something he wouldn't enjoy then I wouldn't spring a surprise switch on him.

If he thinks he is spending the first day at BWV and you tell him to go to POP Century how will he react?

for an overnight stay in your carry-on thereby not having to open the other suitcases. 'Cause who knows whether La Nouba will be there the next time you go! It is a great show not to be missed.

I wouldn't want to have to switch hotels after I'd been settled in for a few days but I think that for one night, I could handle it. Like Scratch42 said, pack overnight bags for the stay in Pop Century and don't unpack your other bags until you get to BWV. $200 is a lot of money to be saved for what I consider to be a small inconvenience.

Good points, and good ideas about the overnight bags!

Have you seen the poll results so far?!? It's a 50/50 split so far. LOL! Hopefully some others will vote and swing the vote one way or the other. Oh the indecision of it all!! ;)

i guess the other thing that i would ask myself is what things are important to me on my trip. i guess that is why i don't have a straight answer for you. if your room is important and not switching hotels then stay at BWV the whole trip. if you really want to go to a show and can only make that happen by staying at a value the first night, then packing a separate small bag would be the way to go. for me, i worry about my room more and my family does not want to switch hotels so i am voting not to change.

because my WDW experience has never been lessened by it. We never do much the first day, so it would make more sense to pay less and stay in a lesser expensive room. You will still have the benefits of being on property, but the savings to be able to do the show you want. I would choose the show and not the room for the one night. The show will provide memories for a lifetime (i've heard, not seen), while the room will only be one night with a bit more floor space. I'm sure my DH would disagree with the hassle of moving from one room to another, but Disney makes it simple. If you separate the clothes you will need for only the following morning, you won't have to unpack. Only one of you will have to do the check in/check out thing, so the rest could be getting breakfast or getting ready for the parks. My vote is Pop for the first night.

Just bumping since this is the last day to vote (for those who haven't).

I see the majority are for the switch from PC to BWV, so really I'm trying to find a peace with this idea. However, should the funds miraculously come available to stay 6 nights at BWV AND see La Nouba to boot, of course we'll do that. The problem is definitely a budget issue.

I'm not going to give up on the idea though. I really want everyone in my group to be happy, including me, and I really want to see La Nouba! I also think DH & DD(7) will really enjoy it too. I've only heard good reports concerning this show, but the price has always kept us from seeing it. However, since the fact that we're even going to WDW in the first place will not be sprung on DH and DD until the day we depart, they won't miss La Nouba if I don't book it.....one of those what-they-don't-know-won't-hurt-them sort of things.

Mom (that's me) just REALLY wants to see La Nouba, and she thinks it's very well deserved since she has planned such a wonderful surprise for DH & DD! ;) Afterall....I'm a princess: too, you know. :jester:

Only you can really decide what you want to do but if it were me, I would stay in the same resort the whole trip as you described it. Unless you really really need that money!
