Our flight leaves at 11:15 on a Monday morning. We are coming from Mississauga. How early do we need to leave to catch our plane on time??? Are we safer to spend the night in Buffalo?? What is the border traffic like on a Monday morning?? Spending the night is only slightly more than just parking at the airport. What to do what to do.................

i think if it is only slightly more, then do the park and fly and have the extra time to sleep in and get BF at the hotel. I think you need to be there 1hr prior to flights. You never know what the border delays can be like, so better safe then sorry!!!

We usually go the day before and stay over. Many of the hotels offer parking for the length of your trip. We usually go early enough the day before so we can go to the Galleria Mall and Target before dinner and then a swim at the hotel before bed. You never know what will be going on at the border plus it adds an extra night to our trip.

We made this trip on a Monday morning last Nov. Our flight was at 1:15 so we left home ( Derry and 9th Line) at 8 am ish. The most traffic we had was on the 403 trying to get to the QEW. We ended up taking the 407 to Burlington and then down to the QEW. We had no troubles and no wait at the border ( Peace bridge). I can't remember what time we hit the border but it would be later then you would have to cross. I would have prefered to stay overnight but with 6 of us and one of those in a wheelchair it would have required 2 rooms and the cost wasn't worth it to us.

Have fun!

Hi fellow Mississaugan (?)

We went last September with a flight out of Buffalo. We stayed at Sleep Inn on Holtz Drive. It was a nice place to stay, not exceptional, but a good place to rest and have a pleasant start to the vacation. We did the Park 'n Fly package, and left the car there for 9 days. We had a breakfast at the hotel, provided with the package, and the shuttle took us to the airport with plenty of time. I would be VERY stressed, if I had to get across the boarder, and to the airport security in time to catch a plane! We went early in the afternoon the day before, checked into the hotel, then drove to the mall for a few hours. They had a great Disney Store (not sure if it's still there)!
When we got back, we moved our stuff into the room, then my husband went to the front desk, and a staff member went with him to park his car in the lot, and give him a lift back to the hotel. It was very easy.
When we got back, after picking up our luggage, we called, and they were right over and drove us to our car, and helped load the luggage!
Very helpful and pleasant staff!

Have a great trip!:thumbsup2

The border might be quick but all it would take is to have an accident to snarl traffic. I would never risk missing a flight by not being there the night before. Get a room and be well relaxed next morning

You better be there at least 2-2 1/2 hrs prior to your flight. I've been hearing that sometimes during busy hours going through security can take up to 1 hr, then you still need to check your bags, get to your gate, board...leave plenty of time. You can check the Buffalo Airport website, it lists there busy times and dates. Also if you do drive call the Bridge Commission hotline (1-800-715-6722 option 2) for up to date bridge traffic conditions to see if you need to take a different bridge than you were planning. If I were you I would stay the night, the traffic could be deadly on the QEW sometimes. Last night it was closed in St. Catharines for an hour. Closed! Not moving, not getting off! Construction accident. Be safe and get there the night before and don't start off your vacation by missing your flight. Good Luck!

I live in Niagara so only 45 minutes from the airport. We always fly out on the earliest flight possible. I also insist we leave at like 3 or 3:30 am (my husband loves me  ) I have a friend that missed a flight because of the border crossing so I take no chances.

When we went in September this year the American boarder guard held us up to lecture us about taking our children out of school for vacation :confused3 Then he also held up my dad in the car behind to ask him if he thought it was acceptable:confused:
